Cobra Intake Manifold question

I am thinking of buying a cobra intake manifold for my 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC. I was just wondering if you have to do and modifications to make if hook up, or is it a direct bolt up? And also would this increase horsepower at all? If so around how much would you say? Oh and does the Cobra Intake Manifold have to be a certain type like a specific year or model, if so please say the model. THANK YOU.

RE: Cobra Intake Manifold question

you need a 97-98 cobra intake manifold. you want the cobra intake tube too, as well as the fuel rails. you can make your intake tube and fuel rails work, but the intake tube takes some rigging / fabrication and the fuel pressure valve on the fuel rail becomes inaccessible.

you will see a very nice increase in power. i gained nearly 5 mph with just a cobra intake on my '97. I ran a 15 flat at 100 mph with a cobra intake and a tune.

everything else bolts right up. you should buy new gaskets, though, esp. the ones between the IMRC's and the heads, and be careful not to slide the IMRC's around too much when you're lining up the bolt holes or you can cut the gasket on the edge of the intake ports.

RE: Cobra Intake Manifold question

Where can I find a 97-98 cobra intake manifold becuase I can only find up to 95???

RE: Cobra Intake Manifold question

ebay, junkyards, or the dealer

get ready to pay

up to 95 was a totally different engine. 99-up are different heads.

you need 96-98. typo on my original post, 96 will work fine also.

RE: Cobra Intake Manifold question

Now I have a question, would this style intake(96-98 Cobra) work on my 94, or would it require alot of modification?

RE: Cobra Intake Manifold question

yes and yes

intake would fit fine, with what i listed above. however your hood would hit it.

RE: Cobra Intake Manifold question

www.corral.net you can usually find one in the for sale forum for the $400-$450 range. I'm hoping to have mine installed before the summer. I'll take lots of pics.
