Kicking tires since my wheels are turning. i bought a 95 Mark 8 a few months with 94,000 miles. super clean car and only needed brakes and rear tires. car was as new and used can get so i bought the car for 2 grand. i did cross drilled rotors and pads on all four corners and this past weekend i found a cherry set of 17" Cobra R style chrome with bridgestone tires for 500 bucks so that fixed me rear ttires that i needed badly. SO>>>>>>

i have been thinking about getting under the hood some and doing a supercharged Cobra motor would be cOOl... anyone done this to a 95 which is the GEN1? or iam thinking about doing a rebuild on my factory motor with cams and doing a supercharger then have it programmed? any input would be great........ thanks in advance...

There's been a couple or more real nice SC Cobra transplants. Check out the For Sale section. ;)

It has been done before. But be warned that it is not a cheap mod as everything in the drive train has to be touched and modded or replaced in some fashion, before you even get to the engine. If you are planning on some serious HP then your engine needs to be upgraded (over 400 HP). If you are serious I am sure you can find some advice here with our members that have gone the route.

When you get to the subject of super chargers you are going to need to decide on either centrifugal or twin screw types. Each has it's own set of benefits and requirements so it's important to decide in advance what direction you want to go.

here's what coarse I went:

nice............ iam not after that much power to be honest but i have been know to change my mind in the past. gret video, thanks.

The cars that are for sale on this site are excellent buys and offer the different flavors of Super Charging at a price you will not duplicate easily when you start to add all the costs up.

I was going to go this route with my 95 and had an 03 Cobra engine and transmission to swap in. Being that it's an OBD-1 car, you're going to run into a lot more issues than if it was an OBD-2 car. Your best bet it to do like Driller and go with a ton of bolt ons or just buy a Vortech or similar. I have a 97 with an 03 Cobra conversion with the automatic, but for a 95, the best bet would be to do the full 6 speed swap. That way you can tune the auto trans out of the Mark 8 computer.

J, thats what i did NOT wanted to hear.. kidding.. thanks for the input and i was wondering if the first gen was that much harder and it sounds like it is.. oh well... i think doing a stock rebuild with aftermarket parts is the way to go. thanks J...

Haha! Well, if it's any consolation, I was running low 13's with bolt ons, headers, and a 3200 stall. :) If you need any info just let me know...I did all the research on that Cobra swap and have part numbers and a list of stuff needed somewhere on my computer. :)

That is essentially the route I chose to go with on my '96 along with supporting mods. High stall converter, J-mod the transmission, Dynotech driveshaft, 4.10s with traction-lok for the drivetrain. Forged rods and pistons for the engine with a planned intercooled Vortech centrifugal supercharger. :D
