Converting To An Alt On A 430MEL Engine

Hi All! I am an administrator on Squarebirds.org. I became the administrator after Alexander Sosiak passed away. We have a member who owns a '60 Tbird with the 430MEL engine who wants to take off his generator and hang an alternator in its place. I have been trying to find him the alternator brackets that will work on his 430MEL engine. Apparently, the brackets for the '66 Lincoln Continental will work. He knows where he can get the top mounting bracket with the adjustible slot in it. We have not been able to find the mounting bracket or set up that holds the bottom "eye" of the alternator in place.

It appears there is an L bracket of some kind that mounts on that "eye" but the picture I am looking at has so much grease in that area that it is hard to tell. Does anyone have any pictures of a Lincoln Continental with a 430 or 462 engine in it that shows exactly how that bottom "eye" of the alternator bolts to the block? Or a good picture of that bottom mounting piece? If so, I would really appreciate it being emailed to me at rayclark07@gmail.com.

If I can post a picture, you will see the upper mounting bracket for a 1966 Lincoln 462CI engine. It is my understanding that engine has the same setup on its block face that the 430MEL engine has. So this set up should work, if we can just figure out how to mount that bottom support.

I see I do not have the permissions available to me to post a picture here as I do on Sqaurebirds, so I will just post the link to the picture. It is the one with the blue engine and the blue adjustible mounting bracket. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. If anyone knows where we can get the lower bracket, that would be a big help also!

Welcome Ray. :)

I hope some gear head here can help out. I know I've seen that bracket in years past.
