Correct orientation of coilspring?

 Ok, I have the coilspring. Ive never done coil springs and always wondered what side would be better facing up. Directions only mention to have the pigtails at end of spring match twords rear of car. I need to know what side should go up on the spring. Tight windings on top or bottom? I would think that the tight windings should go to the bottom or closest to the ground sitting in lower controll arm tray. Because the tighter windings will move last under full compression compared to the rest of the spring.
The windings are pretty much evenly spaced along the leangth of the spring except at the top where the windings get tigther and closer to each other.

1. Do i want to have the tight windings on top twords bottom of car with the evenly spaced farther apart ones at bottom?

2. Or do i want the tight windings on the bottom with the evenly spaced further ones apart at the top?

3. Am i being to anal about this? Just put the springs in and make sure the pigtails match to the rear of the car to make the car sit even.

Going on lunch now. Be back in a few to check this thread....

Disregard above post.

Disregard above post.

The spring has a flat ground off side and i tried it both ways. The flat side up to the spring holder bracket was a more secure fit. So its big spaces on the bottom and tight coils on top.
To answer the above question, the tighter springs move first. Which goes against my previos thinking messing around with a clickypen spring. Both sides compress at once and transfer the movement to the middle when you do it in slow motion. Very wierd. But its done.
Onto the vacuum pump now. :fart

That what I did as well...flat part of the spring on the top, with the end of the bottom aligned toward the wheels, this way the car was not leaning and it has worked fine for me for 2 months and about 2000 miles.

Thanks Matt

Thanks Matt

Yep thats the only way that made sense to me at the time. I tried it both ways and it was alot more secure and level with flat side up. I wished that the kit came with those moulded rubber fox mustang type coil spring boots on the bottom instead of using that rubber sheet. That stinkin thing kept slipping around on me when i got spring positioned just right where i wanted it. I put both my coil tip ends on the outside facing the rear. One has to go to the rear and one has to face frontards on drivers side to keep the tip ends on the outside of the car, since there both right hand coils.

It worked out good, but mine sits WAYYY to high now. lol Wish it was running now so i could go out and flog it in corners to settle them down a little. Did you get the lowered 1.5 inch ones? I got the stock height ones cause eventually i'll have the 17X9 Cobra R's on there and you wont be able to tell as much. http://]
haaa look at that crooked endlink...dont know how that happened. Maybee jumping these creeks out here in the country has put some stess on them? lol

It really doesn't matter which way the end coil spring faces, just as long as the other side is the exact opposite. I faced one of mine forward, and one backwards, and when I do Mustang springs I face them both out.
