Crush nut

I'm putting on new front hub assemblies, is in necessary to use a crush nut or can I use a regular nut?
 
You could use a cotter key....if you think you could drill a small hole for it to go thru in the bolt/stud..... much easier to get a new nut!
 
Where can I get the crush nut? Autozone aparently doesn't carry it.

And I'm guessing I can't re-use the old one?
 
You "can" re-use the old one. I did and didn't have any problems. You can get a new one at the dealer or try our sponcers Max at 5 star or RockAuto.com
 
i have a few used ones in nice shape. you can reuse them i wouldnt worry about them unless yours are damaged.
