Dash Lights have me stumped

check your senser on top of right dash. if it sees light your dashlight wont come on. so you cant find problem in daylight. change this senser first.
 
its not that

the auto lights work fine

it almost has to be a broken wire or short some where in the bundle of wires behind the dash.

On a side note they worked on my drive home for the whole distance the other day just to mock me.
 
you dont understand the auto lights control the dash lights.( EVEN IF AUTO IS OFF) my car does the same thing even if i use my parking light and its daylight out my dashlights wont come on until its dark enough. even if im in a lighted parking garage my auto lights come on but dashlights remain off until its dark out. but daytime my dashlights wont come on until its dark headlights are on but dashlights are strange on these cars cause they seem to still be controled by autolights.
 
even parked in the dark garage does not seem to affect it.

Also if that were the case they would still come on with the light switch. It might be hard to tell they are on but they do come on.
