Delays in car shopping plans due to house purchase

Well, some of you might remember my posting here saying I'm in the market for a driver and leaning heavily towards Mark VIIIs. I'm still wanting to get one, pretty much planning on it, just don't know how long it'll be at this point. Hopefully only off by a matter of weeks.

Mike and I SHOULD be getting the keys to our new house today, we hope. This has been an ordeal the likes of which I never want to experience again. The convoluted business of mortgage/finance nauseates me, quite frankly. But that's something for another time.

We found that closing costs were going to be TWO GRAND higher than anticipated. Luckily, I've been stashing a grand a month back for several months, so that wasn't much of an issue. Just frustrating. There's little you can do at that point, after putting down such a large chunk for earnest money.

Here's some pics of the stress-inducing purchase:

It's a brand new build on an acre, no HOA, and the garage is of a decent proportion.

We're going in tonight to prep the garage floor for painting. This weekend comes ceiling fans and a bunch of our stuff. And on and on and on.

SO, once things are settled and we have a decent budget hashed out, I will purchase a car! I'm still looking actively, just in case I come across a screaming deal that can't be passed up (I never fall into those, tho).

Just thought I'd let you know that I didn't post once and skip out. :) Things have just been insane around here lately.

RE: Delays in car shopping plans due to house purchase

Congrats on the new house, it's beautiful! (But where the heck is the front lawn? ;-) )

RE: Delays in car shopping plans due to house purchase

It's Arizona ~ THEY don't have front lawns! ;)
They have "Front Sand" ~

Skye - Best of Luck ! In WHICH side of the garage will the ascMcLaren reside? Ummm? Oh, and the M81 ??? The Truck ? The future Mark VIII ?? But wait.... Mike's SVO ??? :) :)

RE: Delays in car shopping plans due to house purchase

Very nice looking set-up. That garage screams for a Mark VIII to be parked in it. Good luck on the house and the future Mark VIII :).

Very nice! I'm looking for a garage with an attached house right now, too ;) It'll be my first house so I don't know what to expect yet. I have a friend doing the same thing, but he's further along (I think he's gonna start a contract to build a house on Monday). I'm learning a lot from him, and it does seem like a whole lot of convoluted crap.

But that house looks like it was worth the trouble :)

RE: Delays in car shopping plans due to house purchase

LOL, thanks Sharon. All the landscaping is up to us. The joys of sweat equity. It'll be mostly rock up front, frankly, but I'm bent on having some sort of a garden here as the tomatoes in the stores are far from adequate. ;)

Sandy, that's why we got an acre. The garage is at capacity as soon as we move in. With my GT, my Turbo RS and Mike's 79 Capri, it's full. The truck will have to sit outside, and alas, once I get a Mark, it'll be out there, too, but with a cover. Anyway, we plan on putting up a shop on the property should fate warrant, and we'd have parking in there as well. My Mike doesn't have an SVO, although his best friend Mike does...? HAHA! Funny that you'd said that. SVO Mike may someday sell his, and we'd likely be the ones who would purchase it as the car has been in this circle of friends for so long, it's not allowed to leave. It's kind of an heirloom at this point.

Thanks, Bill. :) Mike keeps laughing at me as I see Mark VIIIs going past us and such and my head snaps around and follows them. He put the idea into my head to get one. It's all his fault. :D

Tony, it's a mess. There are such things out here as a paper we have to sign regarding POOL SAFETY. We don't have a pool! We don't WANT a pool! The financing hoops are pure torture. I can't believe how insulting it can be. I really, really can't. What part of STL will you be looking in? I gotta come back, it's been over two years since I've moved. I'm about ready to overnight some Imo's. I do get Fitz's root beer shipped out here on a regular basis, though :D I miss the food and many, many people. I hope to visit this fall, but we'll see what happens.

My apologies to those on dial up, I could have sworn I posted that without image tags. ????

LOL, funny how you miss those little things like pizza and root beer. Mmmm, that sounds pretty good right about now actually :)

I'm looking pretty much anywhere but north county (I never really feel comfortable up there). The problem is finding an area I can afford. With interest rates being so low, house prices have gone through the friggin' roof. It's ridiculous. I'm hoping to find something convenient to highway 270 or 40 (I work right off highway 40 in O'Fallon, MO). But I may end up down in Jefferson County, it'll be a long drive to work, but I like the area and I have the right car for long drives :)

SHOULD I KEEP LOOKING FOR YOUR M81 ?? :)

Congrats on scoring a house. I work with real estate agents and other affiliated with real estate and mortagages at work, and its all in who you know and how you are treated... kinda like car salesman. It doesn't have to be a tortorous experience... I'm sorry yours was, but there's a bright side. Its yours now and you don't have to go thru it again!

That's a beautiful house! I hope one today to move out to AZ and score some land like that!
