Denny's driveshaft

It would seem Denny's isn't making their MMX driveshaft because Alcoa isn't making that particular tubing alloy anymore.

Does anyone know of an alternative to Denny's driveshaft?

Get a 93 one piece. Or you can have your two piece rebuild like I have done for customers with stock marks.

Is your car built or are you keeping it stock? A shaft balance and u-joint replacement costs $100.

Denny's has a nice 4" shaft that is as strong as the MMX one. I just bought one from them for my Mark. I really like it so far :)

"J", where do you get a shaft balance and replacement u-joint for 100.00? I think I may need to have it done soon. Vibrating at highway speeds from rear. Can it be done at any driveshaft shop? Is there a certian brand of u-joint that should be used? Gen 2 by the way. It's 2 piece right?

Joe....I have a shop that we use all the time and does it for under 100 bucks, obviously its local to me so you'd have to pay shipping. ANY drive shaft shop rebuild shop will be able to fix it. A lot of times people just condone the 2 piece because of the design when it all actuality its just a worn U-joint causing the vibrations. Here is the link where I swapped out a customers/friends/member here. I had a two piece sitting at home, had it built with new joints and balanced at 10,000 rpms that way he could just hang out while I swapped shafts.

The reason for the shaft swap was a complaint of a vibration at 70+ MPH on his stock Gen 2. After the swap, no vibration up to 100 MPH.

I believe anything after a 93 (94-98) are 2 piece.

You are correct. :D

Yes, and from what I recall, even later 93's may have 2 piece driveshafts. Not positive on that, however.

Sharon....I don't know either, now you got me curious! I bet Jamie would now. :)

yes only the earley 93 shafts were the 1 peice i was discussing this with jamie a few weeks ago at our local (sorta) weekend (illegal) race spot.
