Do I need to change the 2-3 accumulator?

My '93 Mark 8 shifts lazy when you're not on the throttle. I was going to change the tranny fluid, and change the 1-2 accumulator and spring, remove the bottom spring.

Do I need to change the 2-3 accumulator too? I'd rather not pull the valve body if I don't have to. I'm not going to bother with the j-mod or any of that on this car.

Changing the 1-2 accumulator is proactive to reduce the chance of bore damage and subsequent shift issues. The 2-3 accumulator does not suffer from the same problems. Changing it only improves shifting but not changing it doesn't do any harm.

If your trans shifts lazy now, you might already have the updated 1-2 accumulator.

You might only need to remove the spring.:)

When the trans went out on my red car at 175k miles, I found the 1-2 accumulator was already updated before I bought it at 95k miles. It always shifted fine but a bit lazy like you say. Now it has a J modded 97 with no spring.:)

The accumulator looked in excellent condition, so good, I put it in my green Mark trans and that trans still ran fine when I replaced it with a 97 trans.

Wait a minute...that's the transmission I gave you for a spare.:D

I already ordered the 1-2 accumulator and top spring - I didn't even think of opening up that trans! Well, when this trans craps out, at least I know that one has the updated accumulator. :)
