for some reason for the past 6 months my door ajar light has been staying lit what would the problem be i checked the cencors on the door and they are working fine. can any one help or know what the problem isits a 95 lincoln mark viii:confused:

Have you sprayed WD40 into both door latch mechanisms. This is a common problem. You need to spray liberally

i bought some wd-40 sprayed the locking latch and it still does the same thing "Door Ajar" is still displayed could it be a electrical problem? or is there something else i could check?:confused:
 
Did you spray the latch ass'by on the DOOR? Not on the door jam (frame)? You may have to do this 2, maybe three times beofre it works! I had to do mine twice, then wait overnight for it to work. That was over 2 years ago. Nary a problem since.
 
yeah i sprayed the assembly it's self maybe when i wake up tomorrow ill spray it again . i got another ? is there a sensor in the lock assembly ?
when i 1st bought the car it did it from time to time then one day it just stayed like that hopefully this work's that would be awesome . hey thanx alot for you help budpytko i really appreciate your response.
 
Spray it liberally and open/close the door a dozen times or more.

There is a small pin switch in the door latch mechanism.
 
yes i sprayed both door's yesterday and again today and open and closed the doors well over a dozen times both door's do you think i need to open it up? im fairly sure it is the passenger door that has the problem is the latch hard to take out ? when i replaced my door speakers i noticed the door itself does not come apart .
