my driver door lock acts up once in a while...the little rod thing on the door panel goes up and down slowly, and some times you hear a grindy noise and it doesnt even lock ....thinking something needs to be replaced inside the door...anyone have a part number or anything for the parts required? a procedure to take the door panel out?

thanks...

Go to Rockauto.com
Enter your vehicle info and open the Body/interior section. There you will find the solenoid.

You have a supercharged Bird and you call the door lock knob a "little rod thing"? Hah! Goofball :D

Ok....that quote is typical of the condition of a failing/failed door lock solenoid. Go to RockAuto.com as suggested and order a new one.

Removing the door panel is a pain....I seen a walkthrough around here somewheres.......

You could try used, talk to Jamie he might have something cheap. I'm sure he has a few and would also be able to tell you the fastest/easiest way to get them out.

Door panels are not that bad... But could be bad if the car is older. You only need to remove like 1 or 2 screws if memory serves me right and then just pull up on the door (firmly). But it is very easy to "break" those clips because they become "fragile" with age.

Those "clips" are replacable, however the cardboard in the door panel is really difficult to replace if it got wet.

I was going to tell him how, but than I was thinking off all the wrong ways someone could try to remove the window switches, the door handle bezel, the door lock switches, the mirror bolt access cover, and how to unscrew that little rod thingy.

There is 1 bolt behind the window switches, and one screw behind the entry light cover. Remove the window switch by prying up at the FRONT of the switch(front of the car too), remove the door handle cover by prying on the front and back, remove the door lock bezel by prying at the back portion, turn the door lock knob counter clockwise to unscrew the cap(may not be necessary) and than slide the door panel up and unplug everything.

When prying the switches, slide a small screw driver under the switch/bezel and pull towards you, do not twist or use the door panel for leverage as you'll damage the panel.

My clips didn't look replaceable, is it an entire rear assembly? Mine are plastic and looked like part of the entire door panel.
