My mark is laid up until the coilsprings get here, so I decide do a lot of maintainence and upgrades while i wont be driving it. Removing the door panel will allow you to replace the speakers, paint the trim, and fix the trim/door seperation problem. I got out my digital camera so i could finally contribute to this site instead of just leeching off everyone elses knowledge
Anyone who wants to use the pics or whatever go ahead - Parts II and III will be coming soon.

All three pieces marked by arrows will have to come out before the door will come off.

The window switch plate pops out with a little prying.
Remove all three screws and gently pry the black plastic thing off.
To take the trim pieces off, use a large phillips head screwdriver and wrap it in electricians tape so it wont scar anything (or buy a trim removal tool).

Remove the 8mm bolt indicated by the red arrow

Pry from the leftward end, as the right end has some hooks on it.
There are more screws holding switch panels together, take them out and unclip the mirror adjust panel by sliding something flat under the clip and prying up and out

You may have to force the door handle piece a bit, i had to use a few things to pry it out.

This *&$#@ was a PITA
Get a buddy to hold the door while you undo the clips otherwise you have to hold the door and wiggle a screwdriver to pry it off at the same time.

all done, now you have the speaker right there, all the trim pieces off and ready to be primed, and the ability to clamp the peeling panel back down with adhesive.

Just an FYI, you don't have to take the trim off from around the door lock/ power mirror buttons. At least I never have had to.

when i first saw this thread, i thought, how the hell did he get into my car and take a picture of my drivers door? ill be doing this tomorrow to finally get the 8's in and seal it up real nice like.

im attempting to get an 8" into the 6x8 opening. i may have to use a pretty thick baffle to get it to work though in which case id have to modify the door panel. what i may do is eliminate the map pockets and attempt to build a fiberglass enclosure but im not sure cuz im having doubts as to how much longer im going to keep this car. its beautiful but way too impractical now that im not in miami.

i got into the door panel yesterday and all i have to say is wow. dont let a shop do anything to your car. i have a 3 speaker setup in my doors right now that i had a shop install some time ago and i thought they did a good job till yesterday. none of the speakers have any sort of baffle holding them in place. the 7" thats in there now (in the 6x8 spot) is literally fastened by 2 screws into the door panel and the rest of the screws are in the sound deadener thats "sealing" the door. the other speakers are just thrown into the stock tweeter location being held in place by strips of sound deadener. its like theyre taped in place. i could go on but i already hijacked this thread enough. sorry.

You don't need to tell me about shop installs... I did a stretch as lackey for an un-named nationwide shop... it was terrible. We had airbags go off almost weekly... they would up the charge by stuffing dynamat in random places. ugh
