Well after seeing how high I can lift the car on jack stands I believe that I am going to have my driveshaft installed, does $350.00 sound about right?

No, unless the shop rate is over $120 per hour.

RE: Drive Shaft Install

Thats what I was thinking, does it take 5 hrs to install a driveshaft?
I will call some other shops.

RE: Drive Shaft Install

The factory manual calls for lowering the fuel tank. Then you unbolt the driveshaft flange to remove the driveshaft. This is another job I hired out due to the fact it required dropping the exhaust as well and I refuse to work on the exhaust.

I've been told one of the easier ways is to lower the differential housing and slide the driveshaft out the rear and to the side of the center section. Depending upon your exhaust, it may also need to be lowered.

I had the pumpkin out when i did my driveshaft, and i still had to drop the gas tank. It doesn't necessarily need to come out, but it does need to come down.

Good to know, I will get under there again this weekend to check the clearance and spray some more PB Blaster.

RE: Drive Shaft Install

If you have a factory exhaust , it's easy to drop the exhaust just drop the rear section and and the ges tank is light if you run it close to out of gas I used a 2 x 6 X 8' plank under the tank with a floor jack under each side but you could use anything to prop up each end to lower the tank slowly till you have enough room
