Help............ What it the best way to get the driver side valve cover off ??? I can't get the cover because it's hitting on the wiper motor and the brake power booster.. Any trick in getting this thing off the car ???

RE: driver side valve cover ???

2 tricks.

1. Loosen but do not remove brake booster and nudge up and over and tie it off

2. With a jack and soft block of wood, jack up slightly on driver's side of engine.

RE: driver side valve cover ???

well, I loosened the brake booster and was able to get the valve cover off and back on. But now my brakes suck. I hear air coming from down by the peddle everytime I push the brake paddle. Now what ??? this car has been nothing but a pain in the a$$. I like the car but everything is so hard to work on.

Nothing worth having is easy to work on. ;)

It sounds as if you are loosing vacuum in the brake booster? Is the brake pedal hard to depress?

Brake Booster Operation Check

Check the hydraulic brake system for leaks or insufficient fluid.
With the transmission in PARK, stop the engine. Apply the brake pedal several times to exhaust all vacuum in the system.
With the engine turned off and all vacuum in the system exhausted, apply the brake pedal and hold it in the applied position. Start the engine. If the vacuum system is operating, the brake pedal will move downward under constant foot pressure. If no motion is felt, the power brake booster system is not functioning. If slight motion is noted, the master cylinder O-ring is missing or out of position. Replace or reposition it and perform tests.
Remove the vacuum hose from the power brake booster check valve. Manifold vacuum should be available at the check valve end of the hose with the engine at idle and the transmission in NEUTRAL. Make sure all unused vacuum outlets are properly capped, hose connectors are properly secured and vacuum hoses are in good condition.

When manifold vacuum is available to the power brake booster (2005), connect the vacuum hose to the power brake booster and repeat Step 3. If no downward movement of the brake pedal is felt, replace the power brake booster.
Operate the engine a minimum of 10 seconds at fast idle. Stop the engine and let the vehicle stand for 10 minutes. Then apply the brake pedal with approximately 89 N (20 lb) of force. The brake pedal feel (brake application) should be the same as that noted with the engine operating. If the brake pedal feels hard (no power assist), replace the check valve and then repeat the test. If the brake pedal feels hard, replace the power brake booster.
