Started all of the sudden... now is very jerky and studdering in its motion. checked tracks cannot see any obstructions, oiled them a little.. no change.
Is this a sign of them going out, or do I need to remove and check further?
Thanks
Rex

Is the memory seat button on the door blinking a code(flashs)? It may be a seat module going bad. Bad news if it is.

One thing to try is to clean the wiring connectors contacts under the seat. You won't believe all the wires under there. Sometimes the connectors will build up some contamination that will disrupt the electrical contacts.

will check the wiring, seat will switch between the two drivers settings, just very jerky while moving.
Thanks

I suggest you start hunting for another seat track assembly. Thats what it started like in my 98, and it lasted about a month or 2 more. Pretty soon, it will sound like a machine gun when it strips its gears. It is sold only as an assy by the Stealership. Somewhere between $700 and $800. Track assys are different! 93 &94, 95 & 96, and 97 & 98. Right and left do not interchange. They arent much of a job to change, but if things dont go right, they can be a real s.o.b. Lots and lots of sharp edges under there. I got my track assy from Middle County Auto Wreckers on Long Island, NY for $150. I'll try to find their e-mail address for you.

Great news.... sheesh... for now I have turned off the Auto Glide and the easy entry... just let the seat stay in position... am the only driver... will start the search for a track set.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I was kinda surprised when I got mine out on the bench. There are a whale of a lot of separate pieces there, many spot welds, and it doesnt look very inviting to try to repair it. Being retired, I have more time than money, but I took one look at that and put it under the bench. Good luck!

RE: Driver's seat got jerky in motion on auto glide and memory...

My 1998 started to do the clanking during front to rear motion. It's definately inside the gearbox of the motor assembly. I took the seat out and got the mount off of it. I could turn the gears with a pair of vice grips. So, I knew that was the end of that. I have a 93 that I took apart and found that the gearing is different. There are more teeth on the generation 2 cars than the older ones. The assist spring is also missing on the newer units. But I did the transplant, because the total distance is the same. I don't know why, but the seat travels just fine now in both glide and when you get into and out of the car. It was a job I did not like. A real mess, especially with the 93. Nobody cleaned it, ever. I found out about the gearing when I used the old gear with the new sled. They would not mesh, so I used the older sled on the outside and the newer one on the inside. Now it all works fine, but I would not like to do it again. Took me two days.
