Drivers Seat Won't Budge

I think the problem lies within the memory seat module as that's when it started acting up. When I try to move the seat, the memory seat LED on the drivers door starts blinking and the seat starts doing wierd things.

None of the other controls work either. At this point I just want to move the seat backwards so I can drive the car. It looks like I can jump the yellow/white wire to move the seat rearwards, but I will need to fix the problem sooner or later.

Has anyone had problems with the memory seat system and if so, how did you fix it???

RE: Drivers Seat Won't Budge

For anyone who finds themselves in this situation, what I had to do to get the seat to move back was disconnect the yellow 8-pin connector on the front of the module and jump the red/white and yellow/white wires to 12V and ground, respectively. Reversing the wires will make the seat move forward.

The rest of the motors work the same way. To control the other motors, just take the two leads that move the section of the seat that you want to move and apply 12V and Ground.

For example, if you wanted to adjust the recline, you'd use pins 3 and 5. On my 93 Mark, the wire colors are the same, but the pins are labeled differently than what I posted here. There are actually 9 pins on the connector with the one in the middle not being used. The 1993 Service manual labels this unused pin as number 7, which makes pins number 7 and 8 on the schematic above, pins 8 and 9 in the 1993 manual.

Also, make sure that all other connections are connected when trying to move the seat manually.

For testing the seat module, there is a white button on the processor which when pressed will run a diagnostic test and tell you whether or not the module passes or fails the test through a series of blinks on the small red LED mounted on the back of the module (toward the rear seat).
