I bought my first Mark VIII this week and am fully enjoying it. I have a question as to ehxaust. First I live in utah. Second are there any aftermarket kits for a cat back exaust system. Should i keep the cats or get high flow cats? I am new to this but want the best bang for my buck. I have a stock '93. What is reasonable for a good system cash wise? What diameter pip should i use? I appoligise if this jumps around too much.:7

RE: Dual Ehuast

no cat back(well yes there is but not for a good price 700 for a catback no way)
keeps the cat if not going w/ long tube headers, 2 1/2 for stocker, everyone just about is using the dual in dual out muffler mid mounted. Some say x pipes but i have yet to see some one w/ an h-pipe,

RE: Dual Ehuast

I did mention i lived in utah right. I really don't want to take my car to florida. Does anyone know of any good shops in the pacific west or anywhere near utah to get good work done. I would be willing to take the car California or anywhere near utah. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Dual Ehuast

the system are shipable, why would you want to come to florida any ways all we have is rain and hot wether anb beaches.

RE: Dual Ehuast

I have Dan's ART cat-back setup. Shipped direct. I had a local shop do the install for cheap.

Me too.

RE: Dual Ehuast

It's still a fair price IMHO. When I was looking, I was quoted over $300 just for the pipes(no x-pipe, no mufflers, no tips) from the same place that did a custom cat-back system on my Mark VII for $250 complete.

RE: Dual Ehuast

Sorry for the ignorance i thought the art kit was just the xpipe and not the complete system minus mufflers. I got a quote from a local ma and pa shop for $390 dollars including 2 flowmaster 40. But not mandrel bent. How important is mandrel bending?

RE: Dual Ehuast

not really that important, I dont think there is a difference besides looks, no Hp difference thats for sure

RE: Dual Ehuast

Assuming going from stock setup to true dual 2-1/2", you would probably need a dyno to measure the difference between mandrel bent and non-mandrel bent on a stock engine running naturally aspirated.

RE: Dual Ehuast

non-mandrel bent and mandrel bent is a big difrence. if you take into consideration the length of the car and the compresion bends you are just coking out hp putting crimped bends on a car. if this was not true then why is mandrel bent pipes a standered in the industry now as well.

RE: Dual Ehuast

You can also get the ART exhaust in stainless steel and forget about further exhaust problems. Do it right once and be done with it.
