Dual fuel pumps

Has anybody ever put dual fuel pumps in their tank? I searched and found nothing. How big of a hassel is it to wire 2 pumps? Does it matter where I splice the wiring for the 2nd pump? I assume I'll have to go with thicker gauge wire from the battery.

You might try some of the Mustang/Cobra sites. I'm not sure if Jeremie has done any, but I'm sure he'll post if he has.

My opinion, the dual pumps with stock fuel lines will probably not do much at all for you.

I have stock fuel lines with a Ford GT supercar pump and a KB BAP wired to run 100% all the time, and the car runs out of fuel not much above 500+rwhp. The GT's can run way above 500rwhp with the same pump. So, it has to be the fuel lines being the restriction in my car.

I know that I will also have to run bigger fuel lines, but that is only half the problem.

If you are running out of fuel with a GT pump and a KB BAP, then I am definitely running out of fuel with a GT pump and no KB BAP.

The stock fpdm works fine with that setup Mike? If I were to add another fuel pump, hwo would I go about wiring in another fpdm?

Mike, before I upgrade my fuel system, I remembered that I do have a Boost a Pump sitting around. Did you wire yours before or after the fpdm?

I have the KB Boost a pump mounted in the trunk behind the drivers side wheel well. I am also running with a Focus fuel pump, Aeromotive FPR and fuel rails with 60 lb injectors. The stock lines were retained. Remember we have a return type system.

I did not set-up my fuel system, but I was told I need at least a -8 or -10 delivery line if I wanted to go any further with hp, and a -8 to -10 return line. A -8 line should keep me safe to 700rwhp. :)

I will check with Aric on how he wired everything on the BAP. I know he also did some mods to the bucket like removing the hat, and fitting the hose directly to the pump because the o rings in the hat failed. He also removed the fuel anti drain back diaphragm in a attempt to help the flow some. With the diaphragm removed, i have to key on and wait a couple seconds before starting now.

One of these days I will bite the bullet and have him do a complete fuel system overhaul, but for now, I am good with what I have.

Is the KB BAP put in before the fpdm? Do you know the color of the wire you need to splice into? I can't find my CD manual for the car.

I measured the voltage going to the pump from the fpdm. about 8 Vdc at idle and 12.4 Vdc at WOT. That seems about right.

Nice link. Looks like you could possibly use the dual pump BAP to sort out the wiring of a dual pump set-up in a Mark.

I guess the only thing I'm still trying to find out is do you splice in the BAP before or after the fpdm? Or does it matter?

I was going to check with Aric, as he wired my car for the fuel pump and BAP. His business is closed on Sunday and Monday though. Here is a link to ask him your self by email, or talking with him. Might be better than me trying to translate what he says. He is a busy guy, so please be aware that it might take a day or two for him to respond to you. You can also talk with Ryan, and he can try and get the info you need to get it done. Tell them I sent you.

This should help, especially since the FPDM is the same for the Cobra and Mark VIII sans the mounting bracket.

What are you running to require this much fuel ?

Thanks, bookmarked that one.

The reason I need the extra fuel - E85!

In Minnesota you can get it at just about any gas station. I pretty much never have to worry about detonation or preignition. I can run high compression, a lot of boost and no intercooler.

I run dual red armstrong walbro 255's intank I wired each with 12 gauge wiring to a separate relay for each pump. I run -10 to my regulator then out to the rails with -8 all SS lines.

I used the original wire that was the high side of the pump to trigger the relays. I'll look for some pic's
