i went to a shop where i now the guys there, had a dignostic test run and the eec is bad. i have done this before on other car where i use a different code eec on my cars. do i need to use the same code or can i just use any 96 eec. but the car runs fine except when it goes into 2 and 3 gear sometimes it kinda stumbles into gear, i did not get the codes so waht could i do to see if it is indeed the eec
thanks
o' and i do have a chip

RE: eec ?

since i got the chip i have been getting a c.e. but i took it back to usa motorsport and got it the chip check out and c.e. still and got a d.t. run and first said o2. that was a yr ago and not it says eec bad. but i did think of taking the chip out when he told me the tester said its bad. but he said he could get me a inspection sticker for 65. i said ok' after i get the inspection sticker and my ticket dismissed i am going to try to get another car. a 97-98 lsc mark 8 or a tbird

RE: eec ?

well I was told by the tuner that burned my chip that the chip utilizes the memory space where trouble codes are stored.

With the chip present no codes will be stored.

In order to pull codes, I have to pull the chip.. then drive the car to get it to "set and REMEMBER" the code.

I was only passing on what was told to me.

he said.. REMOVE chip before running diagnostic scan

You might want to confirm this with whoever did your chip.

Not all chips are "equal", so there in lies some "inconsistancy"

RE: eec ?

Or... you could take your "friends" advice.
REPLACE THE EEC...
REinstall THE CHIP

Then see if the problem re-occurs.

I was offering a ZERO dollar solution.

You may be better served by listening to your "friends"
