EGR valve

RE: EGR valve

Remove the EGR tube from the exaust first.
Second unbolt the EGR valve from the manifold then remove the EGR tube from the EGR Valve on the bench.
IF I cant get the EGR tube out of the exaust I first try heating it with a torch.
If I cant get it that way I cut it off Just above the nut so I can get a socket on it rather than a open end wrench and I buy a new Tube and EGR valve.
Re assemble using lots of anti sieze.

Only use the brakes to stop and get gas.

RE: EGR valve

What does the $99 include? If it is inclusive of parts and labor, IMHO it's worth it. I haven't done it on a Mark, but my experience with EGR - even just disassembly and cleaning - it is a PITA.

RE: EGR valve

$99 just for the part. I found one online from Ford for $72 at GenuinefFordParts.

I am also getting codes:
217 = "DIS fault ignition system - coil 3"
238 = "PCM detect coil 4 primary circuit failure"

Can someone explain these codes to me? I hope once I replace the EGR valve they'll go away, but I am not sure.

RE: EGR valve

Check the left side coil, wires and plugs(drivers side).

You should have battery voltage at the coils middle pin with key-on/engine off.

Odd both coils would be bad, most likely it's a fault in the wiring or harness plug. The harness plug could be loose or simply dirty or corroded. Check it out, clear the codes and check for DTCs again.
