Electronic SuperCharger

Leo posted an auction link to something like one of these, and I found a site selling them too. Looks interesting, this one says up to 750 CFM, but I don't see how it could really "compress" the air like a real one does. It says up to 2PSI boost-- Assuming it works at 2psi, is it possible you'd even feel a difference?? Maybe I'll try to download some "leaked" instructions just to play around with it.

RE: Electronic SuperCharger

That will be more of a restriction in the intake than anything else.

steer clear

Look at the dyno sheet for a 98 civic, i love how the 2 graphs cross at several points. If it's that crappy on a civic, think how it would be on the mark. The only advantage i could see to this thing would be to generate electricity by having the engine suck air to turn the impeller

Yeah, I got to reading about one at another site, that they actually got to do like 2.5psi on it. Problem is that it had to have 3 batteries in the trunk to run it, so that defeats the purpose. Each impeller motor pulls like 50A.

HAHA!! It's a Toy. Consider this.. the T-Bird Super Coupe super charger was said to pull ~50HP out of the engine at full 12 PSI boost at 5000 RPM. At 700 Watts per Horsepower that's 35 KWatts. Assuming you have a 12V system, that's 2916 Amperes. Admitedly the Roots blowers aren't the highest efficiency, but one hell of a difference between 50 Amps and 2916 Amps (Factor of 58). Now consider you have a 5HP Briggs and Stratton, that's 200 cc versus 4600 cc or a factor of 23. I'd guess you'd 7 HP out of the Briggs with this toy blower.
