Yep, mine does the same thing on the dealership scanner. It will say EEC is bad. I yank mine out before we do a scan. But if you have gears it will be shifting wrong on the way there so do it in the parking lot. Mine wont read the codes even in a slot thats open on the SCT switch. Have to remove the chip to pull codes, at least on my no OBD Gen 1 car. Maybee others are different.

I have a chip, live in Illinois (same as Trixie) and never had any trouble getting emissions testing done pulling codes. Had it done in Crystal Lake about a month ago.

Hmmmm. Well, the guys testing my car seemed a bit perplexed, and also did not know how to turn off my traction control. I asked before they were backing her up to the dyno if they knew how to turn off TC, they said yeah, and then a little bit later they called me to help them. The guy still couldn't figure it out when I told him what buttons to press so they had me do it.

last time i took something to crystal lake my elec fan wasnt working someone had messed with the temp knob cranked it all the way up by the time i got my bronco off the rollers it was steaming. i just looked at the moron in shock that he didnt notice the temp guage never again. well literally cause i moved out of the testing area. move west of 47 and no more testing. for now.
