Emissions Testing

The Mark failed the MD emissions test the other day. Before the test, I had two mechanics look at the car and they said the check engine light was on in error.

It gave the code P0411, Secondary Air Injection System Incorect Flow. Anybody know what that means?

Your air pump isn't pumping air. First you need to determine if it is a recent thing or an old code so you need to purge your codes then drive the car and see if the code pops up again.

FYI For what it's worth, my "check engine" light was repaired for $100. It was a vacuum hose in the the left front fender that was defective. You can disagree all you want, but the idiot light is off and it passed inspection.

Why would anyone disagree? It's quite possible that the vacuum leak affected the operation of the air pump because it was getting a bad signal.
