engine hesitation

my 98 lsc has been actin a little weird lately. at WOT the engine acts like it wants to stall for a second then kicks in and launches around 3500 and only in first gear no problem in second through out all RPMs but if i give it half throttle up to four grand, in first, then open it up there is no hesitaton... this problem is really bugging, me any ideas?
 
Try cleaning the MAF sensor.

Speaking of the fuel filter, what's the best way to depressurize the system to change the filter?

Depress the schrader valve on the drivers side fuel rail. Use appropriate safety precautions as fuel may squirt out under pressure.
 
i just changed the filter today it doesnt do it as bad as i did i just bought the car a couple weeks ago im thinking they just put bad gas in it cause im running some seafoam thruogh it as well and it seems to be helping but new boots and plugs may be called for also, the air flter is also a new K&N and i did clean out the MAF
 
where can i get a good price for boots and coils and what kind of spark plugs would you guys recomend?
 
You likely only need the boots.

Autolite 764s are good economical stock plugs.
 
it always is around the same rpm that it lags does that still seem to be plugs and boots? the fuel pressure is good cause i had checked that first even at idle the pressure was 35lbs.

while under load that is with no throttle
 
Depending upon the accuracy of the pressure gauge, that's borderline. 35-45 is considered normal and 39 psi is spec.
 
once given throttle the pressure did come up to 40lbs seems like a boots and plugs issue right? also how would i check to make sure the coils are in still in good working condition?
