Excellent headlight yellow/haze prevention...

I found a product called ClearJet that is both a UV and abrasive protectant. It comes in a 12 oz. spray can and costs about $12. The product description says it is made to protect vehicle graphics (among other things) such as decals and stickers. Safe for almost all surfaces. Anyway, I bought a can and applied it to my fairly new headlamps. It's easy to use, though it likes to run so we propped up the headlight in a horizontal position for a few minutes. I couldn't have imagined such excellent results. It actually made the lamp look BETTER than new. It now looks like it is made of crystal. We'll see how it holds up. This may be the headlamp "Holy Grail" we've all been looking for.

Yes, though that one looks like the FA series - Fine Art. I bought the standard use version...solvent based, high gloss. I got it online; not sure if it is available at Autozone.

So far, after a few hundred miles, it seems to be holding up well.

I'll have to try it out, thanks, good find

RE: Excellent headlight yellow/haze prevention...

I am new to Lincoln's and just purchased a 95 Mark VIII. One headlight is quite "milky" looking and it appears to be inside the plastic lens. I purchase a used right side unit but can the old one be saved in some way? Also the parking lenses appear to have condensation in them, can they be dried out and resealed?

Thanks,

BlackHawk

Close to a year ago I did the usual sanding and polishing on my 97's headlights. I had noticed it needed to be done about once a year so I tried something new. On the passenger side instead of polishing I used a high temp clear coat. End result- it looks like I did it yesterday and the other side needs done again. This time I will use the clear coat on the drivers side as well. $12 isnt much, but I am a cheap skate so the $3.50 paint is better for me.

Is it UV resistant? If not, your lens will become yellow and will not be fixable.

Well like I said its been almost a year with no ill effects. If it turns yellow, I am sure I would be able to sand through it.

Unfortunately, yellowing due to UV exposure is not fixable because it turns the plastic yellow throughout the entire lens. removing yellow plastic merely reveals more yellow plastic.

I dont know how many times you guys have gone through the sand and polish routine, but I have done 4 separate sets, and I swear that there is some kind of coating on them from the factory. (2nd gen)

Here again is the thread for you Gen II owners for polishing your headlight lenses.http://www.lincolnsclub.org/forum/d...&forum=54&topic_id=1386&mesg_id=1386&page=You do NOT need to use sandpaper...sandpaper makes the lense worse than it is already. Why scratch your plastic first...just rub it smooth.Bud Pytko'97 LSC Silver Frost'05 F250 SD CC PSD 4 X 4 AZ Beige'94 Prowler 5th Wheel http://squarebirds.org/images/BudPytko97LSC.jpg

I had to sand it first to get rid of some deep rock chips and scratches. But for those with only minor haze, sandpaper is not necessary.

I've noticed there seems to be some sort of a coating on the lens already as well, I have this strange line across one of mine where it looks like the coating/film is wearing off?http://www.lincolnsclub.org/forum/images/loveit.gif -JLOD - New England Member--> www.ivotedblue.com www.airamericaradio.com--> www.bradleyreport.net www.npr.org

Didn't see that on the new lamps I got...but they were Gen1.

Holy thread resurrection Batman. But I am curious too. I am having some minor issues with Crown Vic headlights.
