Exhaust Drone??

I have the full 2.5" Exhaust on my car with one Xpipe installed, resonator and third cat removed.

My question is at times there is droan that drives me crazy. I have read that adding another X-pipe will help??? Is it better to put in one of those resonators that are sold with a two in/two out set-up or should I just add another X-pipe?

Thanx:)

What mufflers do you have?

I think the mufflers attribute to any susceptible drone. But many have had good results with the 2-in/2-out mid mount setup.

Also be aware the drone will often change or mellow with age on new installs.

So for now you may just want to crank up the stereo. :D

I have magnaflow mufflers, there were some type of turbo mufflers on there before and it was doing the same thing.

I will agree it has gotten better, but it's been on the car for over a year now and the droan is still there at times.

My friend has the two in/out in the middle and he doesn'y have any droan at all.

I'll most likely put that on there at some point, but for now as you said I'll turn the radio up a bit.

Thanx:)

I have a cat-back 2-1/2" single-X exhaust with MagnaFlow SS mufflers. But I have 4.10 gears, so possibly I roll through the drone and not notice it. ;)

I had a horrible drone with the magnaflow 2.5 inch catback I put on my Marauder. I had the shop add two resonators and it took care of the drone completely.

I have a 2 1/2" Magnaflow dual in-dual out feeding two single Magnaflow mufflers. No droning at all. In fact, at normal throttle, I don't hear anything. Get on it though and it sounds mean.

I had exactly what you are describing. Single x into 2 magnaflows. Droned right at highway speeds, drove me nuts. I had a second x pipe added and the drone shifted to a different frequency that wasn't as bothersome at normal driving speeds.

Later on I had it all redone and replaced both x pipes with a single dual in dual out magnaflow with a built in x pipe. That seemed to do the trick.
