Fastest Mark VIIIs

I am curious if you guys have a Mark VIII fastest list.

I have a stock 98, everything is stock except wheels, injectors, fuel pump, MAF, and Novi1K Blower :)

I am going to get it dyno'd probably this friday assuming I can get it together in time. In which case it will also be at OSW that friday. Woot!

I know there are Pro Stock marks and other blown marks so I dont think I will be #1 especally with a bone stock rear and slushbox, but I am guessin there arent a ton of 13s or so Mark VIIIs out there.

There's a few with S/C setups that run 12s or even better.

I have a "list" of naturally aspirated Mark VIIIs I've put together myself from verifiable posts online over time. As far as I know I'm a "contender" on this list for the ETs with my new best from this spring, but I still need some more practice for a faster trap speed. ;)

My best was 13.9's at 100ish mph. Had converter, gears, headers, cobra intake, and a tune on a '97.

My navigator is much slower.

... and my F150 Harley davidson Edition is slower than that!

Dennis Reinhart has/had a Mark VIII with an intercooled Vortex SC that ran an 11.70. He put it togather at his shop in Orange Park, Fl. I think he runs his cars at the Gainesville track.

Aww common guys, post the list. lol Everyones sand baggin around here. :) lol Over at the Lincoln Cadillac site they have a long list of the fast ones. Let's start one here or post the slips in a single thread. I'm always viewing the updates on our racing section.

Actually, the list of fastest Mark VIIIs has been an idea of mine for some time. Done right it could be a valuable reference. Some validation procedure need to be implemented to keep out the rif-raf. Also, current mods should be posted as well with the timeslip.

FWIW, this is the list of naturally aspirated ETs I have accrued for my own use(The names have been removed to preserve privacy rights.)... :p

A list would be great. Unfortunately, I haven't run my car at the track in probably 2 years now - never even got a best time out of her with her mods (maybe later this year when the weather's better a trip to the track up here should be in my future?)

But you can add mine of a 14.8 stock. I'll have to check what the MPH was on that. I'd hope to better that with the mods I have now, although the track I run at isn't as fast as the one where I got my best stock time (Houston).

Geeze, John...if I flip the list, at least I'd be #2!(I said number 2...hahaha)


ok, seriously...my mods at the time of a 14 second time slip, were actually hurting me ET. I added weight(springs), had a trunk-full of stuff, and 3/4 tank gas...plus I just drove 100 miles to get to that track. Mods at the time were old JMOD 94 tranny, autolite copper plugs (stock heat range) and MSD wires...not exactly a "power adder" set up.

Now I'd probably do a bit better...more mods, but not much...maybe I'd muster a 14.89 at about the same MPH.

Wow, There is quite a long list. Wouldn't it be great if everyone on that list and more showed up at SSHS6? problem is, didnt they raise the weight now to above 3900lbs? Or maybe i read wrong section.

Jeff, I believe the minimum weight is 4000 lbs with the driver. Are you going to make it to SSHS this year? You and JP need to line up together and give it a go }( !!! That would be worth the price of admission for me, just to see that race :)

Mike, then I guess your #1 rival has to throw a few hundred lbs in the trunk, just to make weight! ;)



My car scaled at 4180 with me in it at the last race I was at....talk about a slug!

But hey...4100+ lbs, running in the 14's...I aint complaining. especially with 3.07 gears, and suffucating with the single exhaust.

I am trying like heck to be able to go. Im pretty sure JP has me now, but ill still run anyways. Think im under the 4000lb mark, but that was at last SSHS in Atlanta when most of the interior was out of it. I havent been able to mess with the car or drive it for like two months now. To busy with work and alot of other stuff.
I still havent tested out my latest reflash from Lonnie at the track, been working weekends, but on the way back home from his place up to where i live i broke some laws many times and i believe the car is spot on now. }( Everytime i open the garage door and see it sitting there along wall, it screams take me out! I need to run!. lol
When gas hit over $3.49 for premium a while back, the Mark VIII took a little vacation and the truck has been getting all the attention lately. Also my entrace road to the house is still clay/sand and i don't like all that junk up in the cracks and wheelwells on the Mark. (only fried rubber belongs in those wheelwells). }(

If i can talk my girlfriend into going, i can have her drive my truck up there with the extra one i have in my collection wrapped in a comforter. I am working all this weekend, but off on tues. I'll see if i can take some pics of it like i promised you along time ago.
