FHP Ticket For Tint Violation

  Driving the speed limit (a rarity) out of Daytona Beach today when a FHP trooper shows up beside me......then BEHIND me with blue lights flashing.....I thought what did I do??? I've deserved tickets before but NOT today!

Asks me to roll the window up halfway for a "tint check"....HUH?

Got nothing better to do??

I suppose they were trolling for DUI's coming off the beach on a sunday afternoon.

Anyway....got a $42 dollar, no points ticket for having 14% tint when the minimum is 28%......after four years of this tint, it was a surprise.....When I purchased it though, I was told I chose 20% and it may get checked....oh well...

If I only get checked every 4 years, I can handle a $42 ticket.

Maybe they mistook you for a gang-banger??

Sounds like "income generation" day for them. At least it wasn't to spendy.

My excuse that because I work at the prison here and dont want inmates looking into my car, (yes they use crews of them to clean the parking lots) well....that didn't get far........in fact, I ws so shocked that he was only checking the tint, I became deaf, dumb, blind and barely uttered anything...

There is nothing to defend. He broke the law and admit's it. If you disagree with the law, your arguement is with the state legislature, Not the cop who followed the law.

Not true. Safety hazzard for officers. I dont write speeding tickets or parking tickets in general, but I have no problem for writing tint violation's. If your window's are too dark I can not see in the car. For all I know, you are pointing a gun at me. I know this is hard to believe, but some people are out to kill us, and we don't know which ones they are.

On another note, why is it that some feel that some law's should be enforced, and not other's. The law's are in place to be followed. Who should decide which violations should be enforced and which not. It's alway's the cop's who take the heat for enforcing the law's that the people you elect creat. Your complaint is with the state legislature. Not the cop who is told to uphold the law's that you elected people to creat.

As a last resort I used my badge to get out of a ticket ONCE about 10 years ago....The deputy kept working me for more ID as my address wasn't current on the license. He was fairly insistant that I was in HIS county and at 3am I was looking for nothing more than a jail cell...

He had me sitting on the sidewalk as he ran check after check...I guess that Alaska DMV didn't share info with his AFIS records...(Alaska uses APSIN)...

I finally pulled out my new county jail ID and he changed his tune IMMEDIATELY..

My other tickets I just take....If they ask me what I do, I will answer...It's gotten me out of one speeding ticket (to a warning), but otherwise, I take my lumps..

Had a local cop in Minnesota do that to me too....I went by him while in my late grandparents neighborhood when I saw him u-turn on me...

Florida plates in his small town???

NOT!!!

We had a lot of fun for about 15 minutes until I told him what I was doing and showed where I really was from..

Let me get this straight, you think that someone who's going to point a gun at you gives a damn about tint laws? And since your so afraid of this man with a gun, you're going to put yourself in the situation where he COULD be pointing a gun at you, repeatedly? That never makes sense to me. I know that's the thinking behind the law, but get real. If you're so damn afraid of getting shot from behind tint, why make it a habit of pulling over cars with tint?

That's the type of law that assumes everyone is a criminal. I have tint because:
a) it protects the interior from sun
b) it protects my stereo from prying eyes
c) it protects my eyes from high-beams in the next lane at night
d) it makes it harder to break the windows
e) it keeps the interior of the car cooler
f) it's a black lincoln... it's just crying out for tint

And, BTW, i have a CCW. I can carry a gun. So now because i have tint and a gun it makes me a menace to society? Why not stop writing tickets for tint and go pick up the ##### that stole my coworkers stereo last night?

Everybody thinks that what they do is no big deal and that we should be investigating something more serious. If I followed the logic you have suggested we would only investigate murders. The guy with a dui thinks we should be looking for burglars, burglars think we should be looking for rapists, the rapist thinks we should look for child molesters, child molesters think we should look for murderers.

Nobody said that you were a menace for having a concealed weapons permit. In my opinion that is every person's right. Quit making up arguements that were never suggested or posed. The problem is with your ILLEGALLY tinted window's. I pull up at a stop light and a guy with illegally tinted windows pulls up to me. He could shoot me and I would never see it coming. There are cases where this has happened before.

Regular legal tint will protect your interior just fine. If you want to protect your stereo get a removable face plate and quit playing it so loud that it attracts attention. Regular tint will protect your eye's from high beams also.

It sound's more like you are looking for excuses to have illegally tinted window's becouse you like them.

I know the CCW argument was out in left field, sorry. But here, no tint is legal. So all that about "legal tint" doesn't apply. The drivers and passengers windows in michigan cannot have tint below the top 4 inches. Luckily the shop i had it done at has a free replacement guarantee. If you get a ticket they'll peel it and redo it for free.

Sorry, but sometimes the law is focked. This is one of those cases. Like i said, you think someone who's actually going to randomly shoot a cop gives a damn about tint laws?

And maybe you've never been to Flint. You don't have to play it to get it ganked. And you can't get subwoofers with removeable faceplates. They see a blank spot on the dash and they know somthings in the trunk. They see a tinted out lincoln and they don't even bother.

And sure i like my tinted windows. There's other things i like too. Usually the law doesn't stop me. I just take measures to avoid the law. So what. That doesn't make me wrong and the law right, that's just the way it is.
