Floor Mat Compatibility

I'm in desperate need of some official Mark VIII floor mats. I'm sick and tired of the set I bought at Pep Boys sliding around and bunching up under the pedals. I see them ebay every once in a while, and narrowly missed getting a set a few weeks ago.

Recently, there was a set on ebay for a '96 in "ebony". Mine's a '98, with a "Midnight Black" interior, which I know is unique to '98s. Funny how Ebony is black and Midnight Black is dark gray isn't it? Anyway, is "Ebony" the same exact shade between all the other years?

Also...

Is the shape of the front mats the same for all years? If no, when were changes made and what were the changes?

What about the grommet for the hook that keeps the driver's mat in place?

They don't make the black mats anymore, they changed supplies and all you can get is the charcoal gray but they call it ebony all years should fit. You can get a set from the dealer but they wont be the original OEM ones.

My Girl friend called about 5 diferent states trying to find the oem for my 96 LSC and found a pair that matches exact. According to different dealers they may be history! Great woman to do that for me.
Mine were called midnight black.

Look up this place in Google, SVPU.com. Click on their Specials banner on left of their home page. You'll see custom Mark Mats, complete with grommets, at very reasonable prices. A fellow LODer turned me on to them. I hope this helps.

I have a set of dark grey mats still in the box. I paid 65 for them. Match it and pay shipping and you can have them.

Eli, if you can magically turn them into a light gray you have yourself a deal.

Not a very good one, my interior is light grey and thats why I can't use these. I believe they are sold, by the way.
