For all those who have dampened the trunk area...

RE: For all those who have dampened the trunk area...

i wish i could tell u but i had a shop do mine. i gave them 2 rolls of raammat60 and they used all of it. they said they coated the car with it. only rattles i have are from behind the dash and the headliner.

When you take the carpet out, you'll notice that there are two "pockets", one on each side, between the bumper and the wheel wells. I'm getting a bit of a rattle from there, but it could just be from loose crap banging around in there too.

I think expanding foam would be the easiest way to take care of that, but I haven't had the time/ felt like doing it yet.

edit: My trunk emblem rattles too. Maybe with enough deadening on the trunklid it wouldn't??? That's yet another thing I need to tackle sometime.

Expanding foam would be advised against. Especially if you posted this on another board. That stuff can bend metal, and mess you up if you are not careful. I would stick with raamat, or spray type dampener.

If you build a port through type box you wont have to worry about the trunk rattling at all.
All I damped was the rear deck forward to the front edge of the doors.I had two JL 15w6s and 1600 watts and had NO rattle whatsoever.

the rear deck is a bad spot. IT takes a lot to get it quiet. Also the trunk lid rattles quit a bit.

i really hope youre not in an area who's temp gets warm for long periods of time. here in miami, its very common to see 85-99 degree days and its taken its toll on my sound deadening material. i was in the trunk yesterday and most that was up on the top of the trunk has fallen off and the stuff on the sides has slid down and some is just hanging there. now ive gotta go get a heat gun and reapply this stuff.

that is why I did not use any of that stick on crap. I sprayed mine with a gun. IT is on there forever. I used close to 4 gallons of it in the trunk of my pearl car.

What pearl car?
Oh ya that one.Man it would look REALLY sharp with some HIDs.

What type of 'spray on crap' and is it available at a store.

Duplicolor makes a Sound deadening udercoat that dries like paint but stays plyable, not hard and brittle let d block. It is about $5 a can at Autoze. That is what we used when I Design and install for Harman/ Becker aka JBL, Infinity, Mark Levinson...
