In about 3 weeks I will be traveling back from Detroit MI to MA. I'm picking up my new mark. I would like to put together a list of people who are along the way that I could call if I got in a jam on the way home. Take a look at the map and see if this is you. I would really appreciate any one who is willing to help. Chances are there won't be any problems but it's always nice to have a back up plan.

Jbird, do you want to PM me your contact info or address? I'm putting a list together. Thanks!

Thanks Trixie, I can't wait to pick up the beast, 400 rwhp!!!

If you overshoot your house by about 30 min, I'm totally on you way...

Just take a right when 195 ends, and follow the hiway until you hit water :)

Thanks JP, it looks like theres a few around Detroit, and a few a bit north of where I'll be driving through Canada. Not many. That will be close to my route. Hope all goes smooth, I'll give you guys a heads up when I'm going to pick up the car.

Last time I crossed the border it was a real hassle (Home land Security) with customs. Be prepaired. If you do go Southern along Lake Erie I am out east of Toledo.

I have my passport, but my friend that is coming only has his birth certificate and photo ID. I reasearched it an that is all you should need to pass through the border still, it's on the passport website.

all I had was license and birth cert. and it was using the Tunnel in Detroit as I went to Windsor for some night time fun. I was told to get a Passport for future excursions by the US customs guy.

hmmm thats exactly where i'm going to be going through I think. How much longer do you think taking the all US route is?

From what I understand, altho Birth certs are ok to use until Dec 31st, they are taking longer to go through without the Passport. How much longer? Depends on the government worker and if he got any that morning or not!

I have been both ways, but as I was pulling a 30' trailer on the lower route, I can't tell you for sure how much more time it is to go that way. I wouldn't think it was terrible tho...prob an hour or less.

I just mapped it, it looks like it's an exta 100 miles, so another 80-90 minutes or so. I'll have to think about it. Thanks for the heads up though.

Another thing to be straight about will also be the paperwork on your car that you are just picking up. Could be another hassle if not totally done right.

Eric, I go to Windsor about once a month. Recently it's become more of a problem. I'd strongly advise you to have a passport, not as much during US-> CAN crossing, but the other way around.

That car went thru the border more times that I can remeber, so there shouldn't be any issues. Are you gonna have a temp MI plate or MA plate ?
