Frustrated in my search for a Mark VIII.

RE: Frustrated in my search for a Mark VIII.

I have a 96 LSC Black on black, chrome whls, loaded and in GREAT shape, 50,000 miles on new engine, need to sell because I bought an Infiniti G35 Coupe and do not need the Mark any more... Asking $8450 and planning on letting it go for $8,000. Jim

RE: Frustrated in my search for a Mark VIII.

There has been times the past couple of weeks when I just wanted to shoot myself.

I started looking for a 97-98 LSC a few months ago. After a lot of problems with insurance costs, I got that fixed up. Then I started looking for a car loan, and no one would give me one because I'm 21. I spent long hours over a few months trying to get car loans from internet sites, local banks, dealerships, everywhere. I'm just too young.

So I face the facts and I step down a level to a 95-96 LSC, which I could afford in cash, they are like half the price of a 2nd gen in the same condition. I actually fell in love with them, I probably wouldn't even get a 2nd gen now. However, I believe they made 1500 in 1995 and 5000 in 1996. Apparently making this One, Rare, Car. There are a total of three of them in my area within 500 miles, and all of them suck. For example:

1995 LSC - Carfax revealed tampered mileage
1996 LSC - Dealer wants $12,000. Yeah. Right.
1996 LSC - Totaled.

I was tracking a BEAUTIFUL one on eBay in Texas, but the car went for too much money. $6900 + taxes + dealer fees + shipping to NY = lots of $$$. Can you believe that I am so desperate I was willing to pay for a car and truck it across the US site unseen? I did have a member of the board check it out for me though.. so I wasn't completely irresponsible.

And that is the end of my story. At the moment I check eBay, autotrader, autohopper, cars.com, lincoln forums, and yahoo auto. Two or three times daily if my schedule allows. I know one will come my way sooner or later. Actually... maybe later than sooner.

RE: Frustrated in my search for a Mark VIII.

I drive a 1997 LSC, it has about 76K miles. My dad plans on buying a new car, but I'm not sure when. The other car we have is a 93 MBZ (which is starting to die) so I don't know which car he plans to sell. There's no way in hell we're going to trade either of them in at the dealership. I'll keep you guys posted, I'm sure somebody might want the Mark.

RE: Frustrated in my search for a Mark VIII.

Wow, an old thread of mine brought back from the dead.

Well, I went from frustrated to not having one to frustrated with having a broken one.

My Mark made it about two months before the tranny tanked out (the ONLY thing I didn't like about Marks was the fact that they were all automatics, I do not like automatics and this one lived up to my negative expectations). I didn't even get a chance to do the accumulator piston upgrade tricks or anything else. Due to things such as major surgery on a couple of felines and other unexpected SERIOUS outlays of cash, the LSC has had to sit for about four months. Hopefully very soon that will all be over as I hope to be picking up a rebuilt transmission tomorrow and we may be able to install it this weekend (hooray for July heat in Phoenix!). Then the car will be off for a good detailing. It will certainly need it.

And, yes, I'm ordering a tranny cooler :)

RE: Frustrated in my search for a Mark VIII.

I just bought my first VIII, '97 Pear white. GET THIS, 57,000 miles.
Paid $8,500. It was never wrecked, just sat in a garage for someone's backup "PLAY" car.
Keep looking, you'll find one.

I have a 93 in fair condition with 84,000 miles. People will see it at the meet here in a couple days. I am wanting 2500$ for it.

RE: Frustrated in my search for a Mark VIII.

I got my 93 (Silver exterior/Ebony interior) for $2300.00. It had 91,000 when I purchased it in April.
