RE: Fuel door release
It should be a one-time deal. Yours may have a problem and is about to break. Mine has on two occassions. It's only an $8 part and takes a minute to replace. Don't be surprised if it stops working entirely, just have a new one ready to install.
You could take it apart and try to find out what is wrong with it too, but for $8, you might as well just replace it. All it does is apply 12v to a solenoid that pops open the fuel release door. It's basically a piece of metal mounted to a plastic button, spring loaded into another plastic cylinder. The plastic tabs which limit the spring movement break and it goes flying around the gas station.
If it breaks, you can use the release lever in the trunk, or a piece of metal placed "strategically" to close the circuit.
