When I press the release inside on the drivers door the gas door doesnt open fully. It releases the lock, but the door doesnt pop out far enough so I can get a finger on it. I usually have to slide a credit card in there to open it becuase I cant get my finger in there. Is there a way to make it pop out further? It just happened recently, it used to pop out farther. Thanks

RE: Gas Door Release

What drove me crazy is that the Fuel door switch is $78 for the tan color, and $13 for the other colors.
But my buddy at the dealership just popped the top of the fuel door button, the part I’m missing and just gave it to me free, cuz he couldn’t believe how ford tries to rip people off. He’s the only reason I buy my parts from the stealership, gives me parts at the price THEY buy it.

RE: Gas Door Release

Have had that happen to me too. If you look at the door, there is a thin metal flat spring. Carefully !! bend it , it is what pops it open past the lock mechanism.

This is from memory. Take a look at it you will figure it out. If I get a chance I will go out and look at mine and double check what I was talking about. ( if it would ever stop raining ! )

RE: Gas Door Release

My fule door sticks EVERY time. There is a MANUAL RELEASE CORD in the trunk on the right side under the carpet. Thank goodness, too, because my solenoid finally died today!

RE: Gas Door Release

As a matter of fact, thats the only thing I cant get to work I replaced my button, I've even tried jumping it manually to get the thing to release, but nothing. I am getting power to the button, but nothing. How hard is it to replace the assembly in the trunk?
