Okay gang ;
Here is the latest result of numerous hours on troubleshooting my 1994 mark VIII air suspension system.
1. The symptoms initially presented themselves as the car would slam overnight and the air compressor would not come back on.
2. After changing out all bags, solenoids, air compressor dryer, solid state relays, module, and checking all wires from the module to the components, I did discover a shorted driver's door switch.
3. The car was on the lift with the replaced height sensors mechanically disattached (which I had removed from a working 94 Mark VIII I also have) but still electrically connected. Upon disconnecting the driver's door switch, the air system came right on and worked perfectly (I had to manually shut it off so it wouldn't burst the front bags).
4. Thinking I had finally solved the problem, I let the car down after reattaching the front height sensors. The car sat higher that it was supposed to so upon turning the air suspension back on, the car vented to it's normal height and sat there. I turned off the air suspension system and tokk it out on the road and let it sit at the same level to check for actual mechanical leaks. Car stayed right up and there were no mechanical leaks.
5. Turned air suspension system back on and car immediately slammed in the front and the air compressor would not come back on . Disconnect height sensors mechanically and the entire system works great.
6. I now know the system thinks it's too high in the front for whatever reason (remember, I have already swapped out the height sensors and the lower mounting ball is set at the high point to ensure the highest setting in the front. No effect.
Any thoughts on what's causing thi
