General Repairs and Under the dash

Hey guys,

I am doing some repairs to my 1997 Mark VIII these next few weeks and was hoping to get some comments on the quality and pricing of following parts, mainly because I do not want to tear out my dash twice!

Went to Advance Auto today and got the following quotes:

UNDER THE DASH
- Ready-Aire Heater Core (lifetime replacement warranty)
$29.88
- Factory Air Evaporator Core (lifetime replacement warranty)
$119,-

Both are copper based.

GENERAL REPAIRS
- TRW Upper & Lower Control Arms
2x $55.94 for the lower
2x $83.14 for the upper

STUFF THEY DIDNT HAVE
- Blend door Actuator
- Steering Wheel Potentiometer
- Rear sway bar link rubbers
Are these dealer items only?
Anyone know what these items should cost?

Lastly Eddie at American air sells refurbished compressors and Arnott sells what they call a heavy-duty compressors which is better?

Thanks,
Dave

Control Arms

Control Arms

Saw on the Arnott site the also sell Upper control arms.. (lifetime warranty) $129,-
Does anyone have good / bad experience with these?

blend door accuator is a dealer only item, roughly 48 bucks, but you may have trouble getting one some people say they cant find them. the potentiometer, goodluck, long gone just like the dinosaurs. you may have to purchase a whole used column off ebay to get one.

Are you planning on keeping the car for a "LIFETIME" ? We've known that the TRW's are good UCA's. Is 10 years a "lifetime"?

Eddie's compressors are fine.

Tommy

What is your reasoning?

Thanks
Dave

Eddie is far more experienced than the folks are Arnott..
Eddie spent many years working in the suspension dept at Ford.

I'd trust Eddie over the aftermarket suppliers any day of the week.
