Getting Pulled Over

I was just wondering if anyone has the same problem that I do regarding getting pulled over all of the time. The funny thing is that it is never because of speeding.

I spoke with a police officer the other day and he said that my car looks like a thug car. He went on to say that my tint was too dark and that most people who drive these cars are 18 year olds.

To me it just seems like the car is shady. Am I the only one with this problem????

RE: Getting Pulled Over

I've never been pulled over in my Mark's yet. I don't have tint but I don't know if that's why.

I try not to give cops a reason to pull me over. I think tint that is too dark, gives them a reason.

RE: Getting Pulled Over

Happened to me several times when I had one that was tinted also. Missouri requires a permit for tinted windows, and a Drs prescription. Permit is issued only by the State Patrol. Depends on the amout of light allowed thru the tint. If ok they put a sticker on the inside of the lower corner of the drivers windshield, and also on the outside of the lower drivers side corner of the back light. I always took that one off. Guess thats why I got stopped.
Ya think??

Bob, maybe it's just the town you are in. I lived there 19 yeawrs and watched them arrest everyone from the dog catcher to the motorcycle cops for dope dealing. Davie Police are a very special breed and maybe they thought that there was a realgood looking woman behind those shade?
Still a Motorhead:)

When I had my red 85 T-Bird with tinted windows and custom wheels, I actually got pulled over for doing 70 mph on a 65mph freeway! The cop suggested that my speedo was off because of my non-standard looking wheel size, however I pointed out to him that the overall diameter was the same and that the size I had on was approved by Ford per the metal spec plate on the passenger door jam - same wheel and tire size used on the 4 cyl turbo models (what was up with that engine anyway? I had the 5L V-8). When I offered to show him, he obviously told me to be on my way.

RE: Getting Pulled Over

Whats up with that engine is that its probably the best over engineered ford engine up until the 03 Cobra. :D ::grrr:: Sorry to hijack, carry on.

I haven't gotten pulled over in my mark yet.

RE: Getting Pulled Over

I got pulled over occasionally for doing something stupid or for window tint (only state cops stop for tint around here, though).

Usually the effect was the exact opposite. I've done really stupid things right by a cop, and watched them look around for the kid in the mustang or f-body. They never thought to check out the mark 8.

RE: Getting Pulled Over

I don't get pulled over, but my son was pulled over once while driving my car and was searched and the whole deal. No tickets issued since he had done absolutely nothing wrong.

RE: Getting Pulled Over

I used to get pulled over in my 96 all the time. I got pulled over 3x in the past 6 months of ownership. None were due to speeding. I got a ticket 1 time for the tints that I then had to take off.

It is a very simple explanation.

Tints+Aftermarket chrome wheels = get ready to be pulled over.

RE: Getting Pulled Over

Oh just to add to this topic. In the past 7 Months for driving my 98, I didn't get pulled over once *knock on wood*.

RE: Getting Pulled Over

Actually in my '94 I did get pulled over without cause once, and searched. the cops ran my plate and it came back from Detroit and I was in Flint. They assumed i was trafficking drugs, despite the fact that I went to school 2 blocks away from where I was stopped.

RE: Getting Pulled Over

I've only been pulled over in the Mark twice. Once being accused of wreckless driving when I swerved to avoid a car that cut me off. The other time I was accused of being a drunk driver because I went through a roundabout faster than I probably should have (25ish mph).

RE: Getting Pulled Over

I have been pulled over three times in my 2nd Mark VIII... The first time was a day or two after I purchased it. I burned the tires at an intersection and a cop that was hiding whipped out and turned on his lights. I told him I didn't know that the car had that much torque as I just got the car, and my front end was shaking due to 2006 Mustang rims and spacers. NO TICKET! but he took the license plate that came on the car from the previous owner.

Then I got pulled over a week after that for not passing up the cop. (suspicious?). He asked me why I didn't have a license plate. I told him & her that I didn't know I needed one until I had owned the car for more than 30 days. He said I needed to tag it right away or not drive because it would be illegal (DUH!!). NO TICKET!!

Then I got pulled over a week ago for speeding. I was doing 55 in a 45 because the speed limit went up to 55mph in twenty feet. When he pulled me over, it was 2am. I had an IBC root beer bottle in my cupholder. He asked me if I was drinking. NO! So he told me to slow it down some. NO TICKET!!

So far. I like this car. I haven't got a ticket yet.

In my 95 Buick Roadmaster, I got a ticket for $305.
In my 98 Buick Riviera, I got $600+ in tickets.
Basically, I have paid for the new I-10 bridge they are building here! haha

Thanks for the feedback

Thanks for the feedback

Well I guess that my tint is tooooo dark. Other then that the car just looks bad as hell and it draws attention. Especially to Davie Police Department.

Thanks again,
