Going on a 9 hour round trip to hopefully pick up a 95 Mark Viii

Tomorrow morning, hopefully around 9am, my friend is gonna take me on a 4.5 hour drive to Charlotte to pick up a 95 Mark Viii. Its black on black and I'm hoping its an LSC, because the guy said its missing two emblems on the deck lid. I'm selling my 2000 SVT Contour to buy this beauty. It will be my second 95 Mark Viii, albeit the first Mark Viii was black with ivory interior. I can't wait to see her in person and do the 4.5 hour drive home.

Here is a link of the car I'm going to buy.

Thats not an LSC. Id love to see pics of the SVT contour.

I drove 6 hours one way to look at a mark once.

The convertible was about 13 hours away, but I never personally saw it before I bought it and had it shipped so I guess that doesnt count.

I hope everything checks out great and I'll be driving home a Mark Viii tomorrow evening.

Nice Contour.

I like the Mark VIII more though.:)

A business Coupe? Does that mean it doesn't have a back seat?:D

"Business Coupe" brings back a lot of memories. My Dad had a "48" Chevy Business Coupe that me and my sister used to ride in. We had these little stools we sat on in the rear area, holding on for our dear lives when ever Dad took a turn. No set belts back then.LOL

Well, the car checked out good enough for me to buy so I am now the owner of another 95 Mark Viii. Both upper control arm ball joints were shot, so that was one scary drive home. Only at low speeds, ie in parking lots could you hear the squeaking but at speed they were quiet. However, psychologically, I kept picturing them coming apart on the highway which scared the crap out of me to drive it home. Made it home safely, albeit it took an hour longer because I stopped at every rest stop on the way home.

I am extremely happy and she does need both upper A arms and some fresh tranny fluid and fliter change. Its weird seeing a Mark Viii without a moonroof but I kinda like it, in addition, I'm sure the body is much more stiff. I will be doing the Kale sensor drop today since its free and it just makes it look so much cooler. So happy to be back in the Lincoln world!!

Glad to hear that you got the Mark VIII.

That squeaking noise is often the lower ball joints ready to fail. I'd be very careful around that car until you've safley checked all the ball joints out.

Glad to have another Mark VIII owner around as we are growing ever smaller in numbers. Glad to hear that you are happy with your "new" car and I hope it serves you as well as mine has served me. Great comfort, style, performance and economy to go with it. People often ask about my car and when I tell them that it's a '94 they want to know why I drive such an old car. I just laugh and ask about their fuel economy and when they tell me some number in the mid 20s I tell them about 27+ on the highway and say that it makes no sense to buy a newer, unknown car that will cost me thousands more and provide the same or less economy as well as just being another common box on the road. Just because it's newer that dosen't make it better.

Life is short, enjoy it while you can.
