Good Shelby Cobra article.

RE: Good Shelby Cobra article.

What a shame. Based on those photo's, that car has no personality. Looks like every other honda, bmw, mercedes two seater convertable out there. Looks like another gimmick. Even if it is fast, I see nothing distinctive about it.

I wouldn't kick one out of my garage. I would've put a little more chrome & some HID's on, but not bad.

RE: Good Shelby Cobra article.

By the way, that was a great article. Thanks for sharing. I cant think of a bigger name in car racing.

RE: Good Shelby Cobra article.

u guys are crazy. this car is friggin beautiful. if u guys happened to catch the show "Rides" on TLC, youd see it looking much better with a different set of wheels on it as well as the entire build-up of the car. awesome show! back to the car. i will own one of these as well as a fully custom replica of the origional when i get my anesthetist job. also, i was dead set on painting my mark a beautiful candy brandy wine paint but after seeing the color on this prototype, i again must make a decision. i didnt get to read the article (damn 56k), but did it mention fords new V10 thats going into this thing?

RE: Good Shelby Cobra article.

Yep, I was just gonna say the same thing... caught the last 2/3 of the "Rides" replay later last night. Thought Carroll Shelby's comment about having a drifting contest between the old & new cobras was hilarious. Nice to see he can still do parking lot doughnuts with the best of them. I think it's a great, updated re-interpretation of a classic supercar. Plenty of styling cues from the original, but with an updated, modern look. Would love to see it go into production (not that I could ever afford it) with a convertible top & working windows. There's still plenty of Cobra's available to those who prefer the original incarnation, either kits or through Shelby himself.

The 427 Cobra's always been one of my faves... used to hang around some of the replicar builders at car shows just to hear them fire one up. My neighbor just had a replica built last year. Took 2 years to complete from the time the first check was written. He used a '66 428, as the 427's are SO hard to find and SO expensive. Am still begging for a ride... the symphony burbling out of those sidepipes is intoxicating...

RE: Good Shelby Cobra article.

Man that is a BEAUTIFUL CAR! It's not just a "looks" issue either, the entire concept is solid from the shape to smell. Good thing you guys aren't car designers! Kudos to the whole crew involved with this project. Did you guys miss the part about the 600-Horse V10?

I taped the entire 60 minute show last night. I can upload it if there is enough interest. It replays Feb 22nd. What Carroll said at the end was classic...

"It's gone be an asskicker."

RE: Good Shelby Cobra article.

Please upload the video. I would really like to see it. I love the heart and hard work that went into it and appreciate what it is. I just dont like the style. I see nothing very distinctive about it in the pictures. Maybe the video will change my mind. I have to say that I was very excited when I read the article and saw Shelby back home where he bolongs. Maybe ford is waking up. I think the new mustang is far more sexy and offers more charicter.

RE: Good Shelby Cobra article.

I am definitely biased since I saw the video first and the pictures later. I guess if I were to judge the car scrictly from the photos I probably wouldn't be half as impressed. I still think it's beautiful.

I'll work on digitizing the video, editing out the commercials, then uploading a web friendly broadband version. I guess that means bye bye to whats left on my 40 GB HD..

RE: Good Shelby Cobra article.

Well it only took up 600MB (decided to capture at low res instead), with the web version coming in at around 58MB. It should stream on the slowest broadband. I guess it's time to test those bandwidth limits!

Nice job, Kale... I missed the first 15 minutes or so on the original broadcast, so was good to see it. Streamed perfectly for me. When I checked the other day, my transfer rate was around 245 kB/sec.

Did Jason Priestly take voice lessons from William Shatner????? Seriously... when does he go in for the operation to get the stick out of his butt? Know he's quite the car nut, and an avid rally car racer, but no need to be "putting on airs". Guess he's just trying too hard, since he hasn't been in front of the camera in a while.

RE: Good Shelby Cobra article.

Simply...Awesome! My coffee got cold because I didn't take my eyes off the screen. Thanks for doing that. If GM put that much time into anything the GTO wouldn't look like a Cavalier! I owned a '65 GTO Convertible and personally hate what GM has done to it. I hope it fails. Kudos to Ford....once again.

RE: Good Shelby Cobra article.

I thought the same thing about Jason Priestly. He sounded fine most of the time, but sometimes he just sounded wierd, like he was trying to hard, or had something stuck somewhere...

Next week it's Rad Rides By Troy! Should be a great episode.

RE: Good Shelby Cobra article.

I like this car mechanically, and i think the styling is "almost" there. The headlights i think need just a wee bit of tweaking, but i don't know how, and i think the bottom corners of the grille should be rounded off to avoid that "sad" look.
