Goodbye to our cat, Bud

I'm not sure how many of you knew Bud. He was a great cat, there were none other like him. He used to boss the dogs around, pound on doors to be let in, and generally felt that he was the VIP in our house. He and the kid had a special bond.

Last night he was panting for breath and we took him to the ER. This morning, he had a turn for the worse, and we had to put him down. ;(

RIP Bud, we miss you terribly. You'll always be remembered.

Aaaw man, that's terrible. Sorry for your loss.

RE: Goodbye to our cat, Bud

Always sad to loose a pet, you have to have lost a pet to understand. You miss them more then some people you know.

RE: Goodbye to our cat, Bud

Thanks guys. I think we've had him for 14 years, and this really came as quite a surprise and shock. I've lost pets, but I've never had to put one down before. That really sucks. And being a mom, I can't stand to see how much pain the Kid is in.

But at least he went peacefully, with us there, and didn't have to suffer very long.

From one Bud to another.....Never enough Bud's in the world...they are ALL great!! Sorry Sharon, I know how you feel. I had to put down a 14 year old all black cat we raised from shortly after birth. Had to feed it with an eyedropper. Then at about 8 years of age he was fighting a automobile fan blade and lost. Broken jaw and ultimately had to amputate right front leg. He got over that okay and age finally got him...when we got me, he was about the saze of a bat and it was what he looked like, so that's what we called him....Bats. We missed him for a long time, but we have lots of family videos that we still enjoy seeing him in! Photo and videos really help in cases like this......BTW, cats ARE the VIP's!

RE: Goodbye to our cat, Bud

So sorry, Sharon. That's really the pits. I still miss mine and I lost him 2 years ago.

RE: Goodbye to our cat, Bud

Thank you all for your sympathies. It really helps.

Bud you were right! First off, yes, there must be something about the name itself. :) Bud was just Bud. He had no airs about him. The Kid went through all our photo albums and pulled out pics of Bud. He gave them to me, and while I thought they might make me sadder, they actually put a smile on my face. To see Bud over the years (mainly doing what he loved best - laying around the house), was a joy. We have a lot of great memories to keep with us, and were lucky for all the years we had with him.

RE: Goodbye to our cat, Bud

Sorry to hear that Sharon. I have 2 cats and they are like members of the family, I would hate to lose one.

RE: Goodbye to our cat, Bud

I'm sorry for your loss, Sharon. Pets are sure a part of the family - we always had dogs as kids. I can't imagine life without pets! They are the best companions, because they love you no matter what mood you're in :*

RE: Goodbye to our cat, Bud

I'm so sorry for your loss, Sharon. We lost our beloved cat Beans back in 2001, and it was really hard.

Today, we have three cats that we love dearly (well, 2 that we love dearly, the jury's still out on the the third.) One is going on 15 years old, and her time is getting short. I know that I'll be a wreck when she leaves us.

Just remember that when we die and go to Heaven, it's said that all of the pets that we've ever had come running to us...and you'll see Bud again!

RE: Goodbye to our cat, Bud

Thanks. All your kind words and stories really do help us. :*

The Kid is finally doing a bit better, but now one of the dogs and the other cat are acting weird. Hard to tell if their reactions are related to our sorrow, or if they also feel the loss. The 2nd dog - she's too dumb to notice I guess. ::roll::

RE: Goodbye to our cat, Bud

Sorry to hear that Sharon. Bud looks a lot like my Cassy and Ozzy. Don't know what I'll do when I lose Cassy.

RE: Goodbye to our cat, Bud

Sorry Sharon. I know what you went through. As you know, Tammy and I put to sleep one of our shelties recently. Again, our condolences.

RE: Goodbye to our cat, Bud

It's hard to lose a family member.....even when they don't talk. Sorry to hear about that. ;(
