Got blown out by a '07 6.1L Chrysler 300...

...on a freeway onramp. I let off at around 60 mph because he blew by like I was standing still. Anyway, I've beaten the 5.7 Hemi's before, and didn't know the '07's are different (read: 75 more HP and torque). I should have suspected something when he revved it from behind me and it sounded like a lion.

And my wife wonders why I need to get a turbo installed...

HAHAHA - Loved your discription!!

Now I have to find one to test drive. I test drove the 300C when it first came out and was left un-impressed.

Yep, they can run low 13s stock. Some got them to run 12s with very VERY minor modifications like Traction control disabler and Drag Radials. On "east coast gas". I was considering it as a replacement car for the Mark. But I couldn't justify the extra $10,000 over the vette as well as the fact that they are insane gas hogs.

Low gas mileage? I haven't researched it, but it seems a little surprising since the Hemi's share the same basic design as the our engines...that being exhaust ports opposite the intake ports. I would have thought the extra power was merely because of the extra 1.5 liters; they must have put in some aggressive cams to bring the mileage down.

Of course it IS a 4200 lb car...

Well they don't have the "cylinder deactivation" of the regular 5.7. And they are still fairly "low tech" engines. I believe they use dual spark plug technology so they have 16 spark plugs lol.
They are great cars though, 14" brakes. IRS, 425hp. If I was looking for a performace oriented 4 door that would be it. Quite a few spanked the E46 m3s. They were outraged over at the bimmer forums.

Oh boy I need to have less cars around.

Let me at him!

Let me at him!

I raced one of those 8's. He never had a chance with my Mach. Pretty sweet ride though.

It was indeed an 07 or the earlier years? I had some douche with a Hemi one trying to race me on the freeway, revving up and crap, but we were behind a big rig and had NO place to go. The guy was acting like a complete arse tailgating me and stuff. I finally just ignored him because we had no where to go...AT ALL. We finally came through a little town and he blew through a stop sign and went into incoming traffic ALSO in a school zone just to show off. What an anus.....some poeples children. Had we had two clear lanes I'd took the challenge, but I'm not trying to put other peoples life into jeapordy to show some dude my car maybe faster, plus I was laughing at how much gas he was wasting revving up and mashing on the gas while following me. LOL...some people are retarded.

It had to have been an '07. If it was an earlier year (the 5.7 engines), I would have at least kept up with him. Not only are the earlier years a lot less powerful, but they have lousy transmission setups. Chrysler had to boost performance for '07 because it was previously laughable...and embarassing for the "Hemi" badge.

You guys are a bit confused.

The Regular 300C has had the 5.7 V8 with 340hp or so since 05.
The 300C SRT-8 Made a very limited debut in 05 with only 1000 units made or so. It was with the 6.1 V8.

So to sum it up
300C 05-07= 340hp 5.7 V8 Not slow either... 0-60 in less than 6 seconds. 14s through the 1/4.

300C SRT8 05-07= 425hp 6.1 V8, 14 inch brembo brakes, standard 20" rims. Etc etc

The transmissions are just fine. You can get a simple tuner similar to what we do with the mark VIIIs. The SRT8s got a far more agressive transmission tune.

The 6.1 SR8 Chargers are really fast, I'd still get an LS2 GTO or CTS-V over them though.

No way would I pick a GTO over an SRT8. The choice becomes tougher when it comes to the CTS-V... but you should check out how many rear ends they drop... Standard failure is before 30k miles.

The SRT8s have a VERY common transmission dipstick ring leak that is much worse than the one on our marks. Causing them to loose a bunch of fluid... And there is no trans dipstick...

Max...do you EVER work at your work?!? haha You're definitally learning lots of info...

I was referring to Astro's post...he said he spanked one.

Luckily mine was from a stop light and no traffic ahead. I have had many jerks in imports try like heck to prove to me that they are fast, and I just laugh. Boy, it makes them mad! Even had one guy that I walked on in a WRX on a roll, he said,"You aint jack from a stand still." I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I was right be hind him at a stop light. He revved his motor to god knows what and launched well. I blew by him by the time I hit 70. Yep he got me to 60. Even GT mustangs stay with me to 60, but after that its BYE BYE BABBY! 32V RULES!:har: LS-1's thats a different story. Wit the same bolt-ons they creep away at 70. Thats where my Vortech,"when it gets here" will come into play.
