Got the new Navigator

Well, new to me. I picked up my 2001 Navigator 4x4 in white 2 days ago. Its a really nice truck, but make no mistake, you are in a truck. Full air ride and back up sensors. I want to figure out how and where to get the navigation and entertainment system. I don't care for the seats. They sit kinda high and are very narrow for my ghetto bootie. And I think the truck automatically goes into 4wd whenever I smash the gas. I was very surprised to find that this truck was not nearly as refined as the mark. There is no system monitor and no telescopic wheel. The adjustable pedals are kinda cool though. Overall its a good vehicle and will fit my purposes very well. Future mods will include dual exhaust and a dyno tune with a flip chip. I would really like to learn how the suspension works to see if I could lower the truck more when exiting.

Sorry no pictures. I only have a crappy phone camera and have no idea how to post them.

RE: Got the new Navigator

Its not a full air ride. Rear air ride only on the Gator's. You have to buy DVD's for the GPS from a Lincoln dealer. $100 a pop and the US is split into 7 or 8 different sections.

I agree, the seats aren't the most comfortable. But if you fold the middle row seats down, and take out the third row you get a king size bed. That can come in extremlly handy. :)

The Gator should not automatically go into 4WD when you mash the gas. It has traction control that can not be turned off. (at least ours does) You can feel a wheel slip and then it will jerk you around as it regains traction. When it goes into 4WD automatically you will know. The whiplash is severe!

Don't think you can lower it unless you find someway to lower the front since its not the air suspension like the rear.

Good luck with it, its a lot of fun. Just wait till you get to pull F250's out of the mud. Thats the best :)

RE: Got the new Navigator

Thanks for the kind words. Actually the 4wd comes with full air ride. The 2wd comes with rear air ride only.
