greenKIN is

RE: greenKIN is

I am having ALOT of trouble getting greenKIN. She is sitting outside in all of this rain (4 days straight now) at Maplecrest L~M. My Auto Insurance Company withdrew from New Jersey, leaving millions without. They have a "take over" company. They want $9,000 a year car insurance for my Jeep & Town Car. My old company was at $4,800.00 to give you some idea. I am franticly searching to find realistic insurance!!!!! A friend of a friend sent me to an agent who deals with All State. (NOT my favorite - but hey, I am disperate). I am awaiting his rates. Just e-mailed all the info. I MIGHT have car by Tuesday, 1 week after it "landed" ~ it's really beautiful, and I am NOT looking thru rose-colored glasses! I am being objective.

RE: greenKIN is

Wow you pay a lot of money!!
I pay around $200 bucs a month = close to $2400 a year. FULL coverage, thats for Winkon and Wexusy :)
AMEX Insurance. They are owned and operated by American Express.

RE: greenKIN is

Car insurance in New Jersey/New York is HORRIBLE! I drove Winkin for 2 years withOUT collision insurance, because it was $4,000 a year cheaper w/OUT it! Looks like I will have no collision insurance on the new one, also. The Jeep is $2,800 a year because my 19 year old son is also on it. That car has collision. Winkin was $1,600 a year withOUT collision!! With it, it woulda been $5,600.00 a year. The Cadillac has been recognized as a Collectible Car as are the ascMcLarens - The 3 McLarens AND the Cadillac cost $1,000 a year for extended and great coverage, or $250.00 a car. A regualar car? You bleed blue before they stop charging. My goal is to get the Jeep & Town Car together for under $5,000 or $417.00 a Mo

RE: greenKIN is

Sorry to hear about your troubles Sandy. But why, why are you letting them have your car outside. That definetly would not go over well here.

Wow, those prices are crazy!! It was cheaper for me when I was 16, then the prices you pay!!
Could state regulations be the reason companies are jacking up prices up there? or whats the story with them?

RE: greenKIN is

State Regulations the insurance companies who WROTE car insurance say made it impossible to make money writing car insurance. Therefore, they pulled out, leaving VERY few companies to remain. Those companies have raised rates sky hi (as you can see) and threaten to pull out if they are forced to lower them. This would leave NJ without car insurance, so the regs have softened the laws. It's been a mess since Christie Whitman (Worst governor the state has ever had) messed everything up by appointing a new Insurance Comessioner who just happened to be the retired Pres.of an insurance company in the state. She was then re-elected on a promise of "fixing" everything.........and fix it SHE DID, as you can see. Play Ball!!! :(

RE: greenKIN is

$324 every 6 months. Full coverage. I weep for you. That is BS.

RE: greenKIN is

I thought my insurance was high at $1,566.00 per year for the 95 Mark VIII and a 2002 Mustange. I changed to AAA this year because the company I was with raised the rate from $1,400.00 to $2,000.00 for the two cars.
Hope they can get their act together back there on the far coast.

RE: greenKIN is

I will know for sure by 11:00 Monday morning. NOW, they are forcasting a 6 inch snowfall for Monday afternoon. I may never get this car.....or so it seems..... one darn thing after another!

RE: greenKIN is

Damn. I'm only 23 and i pay about $2000 per year for two vehicles, with a couple of blemishes on my driving record as well. The most i ever paid, when i was 19 and driving a mark with full coverage, was about $3000 per year.

For $5000 a year, can't you buy a house someplace nice, where you might want to retire, and use that as your permanent address, and insure the cars there? I know if i had told my insurance company that my cars spent 6 months a year in Flint they'd have jacked my rates WAY up.

RE: greenKIN is

What a drag! I thought our insurance was bad. If you want to feel better, look at our temperature already this morning...83 degress at 11:00 a.m.! ;-)

RE: greenKIN is

It's the fault of the people who run for Gov. here in NJ. For more than 20 years we've have the scum on the bottom of the pickle barrel. Didn't matter which party. We had 12 years of inept bumbling Republicans and now a Democrat who spoke a great pre-election agenda, got elected and immediatly went into retirement! They all owe too many favors to corporations to do any good. Tail wags dog again.

RE: greenKIN is

Those rates are unbelievable! Sort of on the subject, but doesn't Newark, NJ have one of the highest car theft rates in the country? I may have the city wrong, but it was a Northern New Jersey city. Could that be another reason for the high rates?
I hate insurance. State Farm just increased their rates because they aren't making as much money by investing our money in the slow economy. We get to pay the difference. x(
But you definitely have it worse out there!

RE: greenKIN is

Sandy, can you get Geico in NJ? We saved a ton when we switched to Geico. Moose and the Seville together are less than $2000 annual, with heavy coverage.

RE: greenKIN is

Okay. 20 hours on the phone later....it's solved ! :)
(No, Leo...No GEICO in NJ)

My regular car carrier of the past 10 years wanted $8,800.00 to insure the new Town Car with me as the sole driver, and the Cherokee with all 3 of us as drivers.....Sandy, Karen & Matt. Collision & Comp & Fire & theft at $100,000/$500,00, with a $500.00 deductable & NO threshold on law suits. (Expensive)! I switched to All State and got all the same, identical except for adding Karen to the Town Car as a 20% driver, and deleting the NO threshold down to a Verbal Threshold for the "Bargin" price of $ 4,600 a yr.
Insurance goes on May 16th, until then, I am with my old company,
Dewey, Cheatum & Howe. The old coverage went on today, and will end May 16th. For the 38 days I'll owe $916.00. :( Welcome to Joisey ! The most expensive car insurance in America.
To answer the question, yes NEWARK is the car theft capitol of the universe, and I am 2 miles from there! THAT is why the McLarens are seldom outside and NEVER left alone! I may get the car on Thursday AM

RE: greenKIN is

Simple suggestion.....

MOVE OUT OF NEW JERSEY!!!!!!!!!!! :)

OMG those rates are past crazy!!!!!!! And no offense, but your just as nuts paying them!

Here in Chicago...... I pay $1000 total annually for 2 drivers, 2 cars, (Mark VIII & Mustang Conv) --- full coverage --- 100/300 liability and $1000 deduct..

I have my insurance the AAA Motor Club

RE: greenKIN is

I can't move. My friends are all here, I like it here. I know where everything is & how to get what, here. I have spent 56 years here, and I am comfortable here. IF I moved, it would be Maryland or Delaware, and I don't know if things are all that much better there...my wife's friends are all here too, and our parents are buried here, and all of the other little reason you don't think of until you don't have them any more

RE: greenKIN is

Insurance rates are low here on Easter Island. I think it has to do with the fact that we don't have any cars here.
