HAHA... got my cats gutted.

I was quoted 600 bucks for new cats on my 93 mark. I bought aftermarket cats but they will not weld up there without major modifications so the cheapest thing to do is to find a muffler shop that will gut them for you.

Car sounds and runs MUCH better. Thanks to everyone who helped me. :)

RE: HAHA... got my cats gutted.

they have the 3" exhuast club the true dual club and now your in mine club the gutted cat club WELCOME brotherin

RE: HAHA... got my cats gutted.

Does gutting the cats cause any problems with the computer,or the o2 sensors,I had my exhaust guy cut off the 3rd cat when we put on my magnaflows ,i am interested in gutting the other two,but do not want the engine to perform badly, torque and so forth...give me the info please.

RE: HAHA... got my cats gutted.

it might cost some torque but you should pick up some decent hp. You will need to get o2 simulators or have the computer reprogrammed to turn off the rear o2's.

RE: HAHA... got my cats gutted.

I dont think he has rear O2s.

I dont get why some people dont believe in me when I tell them to gut them.
NO negative side effects whatsoever.

RE: HAHA... got my cats gutted.

I believe in his sig it says he has a 95.Maybe I'm wrong.Maybe someone changed the definition of second Gen to include the 95s.

RE: HAHA... got my cats gutted.

Are you guys telling me that I have another set of O2's mounted behind my cats? Putting my exhaust together just gets more and more costly! Hell, took me this long to get the headers, x pipe, high flow cats, and mufflers. Now I going to need 4 O2's instead of 2 and some mechanic that doesn't realize how much of PIA it is going to be to install it all. Hey Chris when is the next time you'll be in town, actually forget, don't need my car hauled off on a flat bed! LOL (couldn't resist)

RE: HAHA... got my cats gutted.

yes mine is a 95 so i do not need to worry about the MIL eliminators?I can gut em and not worry about the CE light? That would be great!!!

RE: HAHA... got my cats gutted.

Oops, sorry. I didn't know that it was only the gen 2's that had 4 o2's. When i had my '94 i wanted to gut the cats, and someone told me i'd start going through o2 sensors if i did that. This was way before this board, and i kind of forgot about it after that.

RE: HAHA... got my cats gutted.

where they removed the 3rd cat/resonator on my car they welded up pipe, is this where I would have an x or h pipe welded in?

To clear some facts up...

To clear some facts up...

TO clear things up for people.

All mark VIII's that have EEC V's (96-98) have 4 O2's. Two before the cats and two behind the cats.

All mark VIII;s that have EEC IV's have two O2's before the cats.

Those are the facts.

RE: To clear some facts up...

this is kinda implied in the previous post but 93-95's had the EEC IV

RE: HAHA... got my cats gutted.

There would only be a problem in doing this if you have a 97-98.

Or even a 96, like mine. I'm still having a problem with my rears, even with MIL eliminators.
