hard to start

i have a 2000 ls with the v8. latley its hard to start sometimes. It jsut cranks. other times its fine. Once its running its runs great. any ideas?
 
How long does it sit before you try to start it, overnight? Where do you live? Cold/hot climate? How many miles? Done any repair/mods lately? How often does this happen? :D
 
it happens randomly. Can sit overnight or 5 mins. I'm in texas and it has 120k on it. No repairs or mods lately
 
Sounds like a fuel issue (common for long starts). Since its intermittant you can start by checking for codes at your local autozone and make sure you don't have anything hiding in there.

Next thing I'd do is replace the fuel filter even though that doesn't commonly cause long/hard start issues. It will however help performance, expecially if its original!
