Have we ever figured out a good solution for the grilles?

I have seen the authentic looking (on video at least) chrome paint videos, but for unproven results and $140/pint ($80+s/h for a half pint) its kinda a big leap. Is that the only solution besides replacing or painting it the color of the body?
 
I painted the grill in my 96 LSC black - I would e-mail you a pic but your profile wont allow it. You chose not to receive e-mails.
