Head Replacement

So i used my 97 radiator to put in my 93. Now i see there is ALOT of room under the hood to work with, now that i have my fusebox , brake res, valvecover, alternator, waterpump, radiator all removed..... How hard is it at this point to just pull the head off with the motor in place?? I KNOW its possible but is it cost effective vs labor?? I can do all the labor myself.

So I have all this stuff removed, what else do i need to remove, the intake and what else ??? I was told there is a special tool to get the timing chain off but someone brought somethin to my attention, and said i could probably just make marks on the sprocket and just removed the sprocket by unbolting it allowing me to take the chain off. Can this work ??? Thanks in advance again to all info and advice. :)

EDIT: Also this is for my 97lsc LOL

You're going to pay almost the same price for a head vs. a good used motor and it will probably take you twice as long to do a head swap. Not only that, your back will be toast from all that bending over.

Your posts have been nothing but useless....You have ZERO tenacity... you know what tenacity means??? i thought you were going to stop responding to my threads?

A member here offered me a head for $45 - Can i really get a motor for that??

that 45 bucks is just for a head, but you'll be into it for a hell of alot more money, once you try to put the head on, ( hoses, gaskets, coolant, oil, water pump, timing chains, crank sensor, ) i mean where do you stop? you'll have 1/2 the motor ripped apart, so where do you stop when changing new parts as you put the head on. changing a head on one of these motors in not a 15 minute small block chevy job, its a serious job, so basically that 45 dollar head turns into a $500 + job see where J was getting at. now you are talking used engine prices.

Lay off him, the guy's just trying to help.

His response was just validated by one of our leading Mark VIII tech guys, Jamie.

Dang.....I never said I was going to stop, I will continue to help someone, even if they don't deserve it. Obviously you're just determined to waste your money away and have a hack job of an engine when you're done. :D

Sorry for having the tenacity to help.

Jamie, you're wrong....I think he wants to re-use all the gaskets. Expecially when gaskets cost as much as his used cylinder head!
