Heated Seats

Haven't been on here in awhile because the car has been good and I done some moving, but now I have a project I want to tackle. My drivers side heated seat has not been working for some time. The light in the switch still kicks on but no heat. I read a post that said the little wires inside the seat have been broken. Has anyone ever fixed this before? What would take to fix this? The passenger heated seat works fine so I'm pretty sure the problem is at the seat. Could it be anything else besides of the little wires? Thanks guys.

It is possible to replace the factory element if you can find another one.

It is also possible to replace it with an aftermarket element. We (Jeremi and Bill, and I [I did a lot of the supervising]) added heated seats to the grey car.

Somewhere there is a post or two all about it... I'm sure someone will post a link if you can't find it... I know I can't seem to find it right this second...

I have a complete set I purchased from a company in Idaho. If I remember, it cost about $200. I'll see if I can look up my Paypal paymrnt.
NOTE: I have gone all the way back on my Paypal transactions to 1-1-2000 and did not find the item. I must have paid for it with my VISA.

I wouldn't condone the element before you check the wiring. Unfortionally you're gonna have to take the seat out and partially apart to check everything. It's simple to test for power if you have the right tools and wiring schematic.

Fixed it for you...whole different meaning! HAHAHAHAAHA oh yeah, LOL!

Thanks guys, I don't mess with wiring stuff often so this might be over my head but I can see what I can do. I'm guessing taking the seat out is a PITA? Would anyone have a few pic so I know what I'm looking for?

I have seen instructions posted for doing this...believe it is somewhere in the ELECTRIC forum..... do a search.

This is what the bottom of the seat looks like with the leather pealed off...

The factory heating element covers the entire bottom, the aftermarket ones I used only cover the center.

If you want to use factory switches, then you need the original seat wiring, and modules. The after market elements have to be tied into the factory ones to control the temperature.

Condone still works. He is condoning the element being bad without diagnosing it.
