I joined LOD awhile back but haven't been posting anything here so far. I'm into Mark 8s nowdays, although my first two Lincolns were Towncars.
I had the pleasure of meeting a number of LOD members in person, when I attended the 2009 All-Ford Nationals at Carlisle, Pa. last week. It was well worth the drive from my home in Michigan, and I want to thank the club officers and other members who organized the get-together, they done a great job. Congrats to those whose cars won the various awards, they were well-deserved..
The Carlisle event itself is a spectacular thing to see, and in spite of the current state of the economy, it looked like an excellent turnout overall, on the show-field, as well as the swap-meet areas. It's a rare treat, to see so many top-notch vehicles, from such a wide variety of categories, gathered in one location. I'm hoping to return next year.
I'm including some photos of my Mark 8s, taken recently at home. I have a 93, a 97, and two 98 models, the pearl white one is a C.E. no. 996.

Welcome! :)

Thanks for participating at Carlisle! We hope to see you again next year if not sooner! :D

Glad to see you here! It was great to meet you at Carlisle, I do hope you join us again next year. I didn't realize you had 4 Mark VIII's!

Glad you could make it to Carlisle.. this was my first time also.
Are you trying to corner the Mark VIII market?
Nice stable you have there.

Welcome indeed! that's a great collection you've got there!

Welcome Marc!

It was great to finally meet you and see one of your nice cars.

We'll have to get some local meets together, you and I alone make 7 Marks, get Steve to join us, and we'll have 10 Mark VIII's right there. That's all the model years except 95. :D

Thanks everyone for the kind words of welcome - This organization has some super great people in it for sure..
I guess the Mark 8 obsession has got a hold of me alright, but I have a lot of fun with 'em, and actually find the repairs and upkeep enjoyable.
The extra body add-ons on the C.E. were put on before I aquired the car, most likely by the original owner, I believe. I heard that at least one source that used to exsist on those parts went out of business, so finding anyone with any remaining inventory might take a little good luck.
The idea about a meet for the regional mark 8 owners sounds great, Bill, please let me know when that will be..

The downriver cruise is coming up at the end of June Marc!

By the way, your membership obviously hasn't gone through yet (you don't have the LOD Member by your name) it will happen soon, the club has been very busy lateley.:D

Be sure to post more photos of your cars in the Members Rides section then!

LMS actually sold a body kit for quite a few years. It is believed to be the only one specifically designed for the Mark VIII. When the demand dropped, they sold the mold to someone in Russia. It would be extremely expensive to ship here now. Useless information from a guy full of useless stuff. lol:D
