the only trick to this is I can't have any damage

2 days ago my drivers side door exterior handle broke. Last night I parked under the car port... with the passanger side door so close to a pole I can't really open it.

I can open it but not enough to get myself in there, my head fits but I get stuck around the hips. Without getting the key in the ignition and turned I can't roll down that window either...

Someone help me think of a way to get in

done!

used a floor jack to move the car about an inch and squeezed myself in.

i did that with my truck. Handle didn't break but i was cleaning it out and locked the drivers door. Stuck it under the diff and pushed the truck away from the wall.

If you can't get it let me know i could give you a hand after work. i am in lewisville. I got tools ( said with the famous Tim Allen grunt) If you can get the passingerside door open enough just get a rope or a coat hanger and pull the Drivers side inside handle Guess i should have read all the post.

I'll elaborate more now....

I woke up in the middle of the night and suddenly just thought about it. Of course I had to do something about it right away and I couldn't go back to sleep. After some brainstorming the jack seemed like the easy solution.

That wasn't as easy as I thought. I only have a small 1 1/2 ton jack - short handle, small wheels. Well the car was on a slight slope and rough concrete. Got the jack under the pumpkin and didn't have enough throw with the little handle. Grabbed a rachet, and used that to get the car started. Put the handle back in to get it the rest of the way up. Well a heavy car with a small jack (small wheels) doesn't like to move on rough concrete. I had the car pretty much shaking and praying it wouldn't slip off the jack. It finally moved an inch or so and I decided that was more than I wanted to risk.

Still couldn't get in but I noticed that the gap at the top of the door was larger than the side. Doing something I hated to do I climbed onto the car, starting at the rear window. If that broke I didn't really care, new window seal for the win! Avoided putting much weight on the roof of the car and slid my way down into the gap between the car and the door. What a tight fit. I got hung up for a moment around the hips again and I just kept forcing myself down. Finally got in. Started the car, crawled out, moved all of my things and moved the car to a different spot.

Thanks to Kracker for the offer.

I had two broken door handles when I bought my 95 (fantastic bargining chip) the last owner left the window down to get in. I discovered I could use a needle nose pliers to grab the broken part and pulling outward and upward(holding the handle up to see the broken part). I've gotten both fixed now... more work than I expected!

I had a broken driver-side handle too, for future reference in this case you could have used needle-nose pliers and reached in the hole to grab the rod that the handle was attached to and push down. Voilla!
